The Research Unit for Muscle Physiology and Biomechanics (MoB), Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics, invites applications for a full-time position as associate professor in integrative physiology and sports performance to be filled as of 1 December 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter. The duties of the associate professor include research, teaching and supervision at all levels as well as administrative and management tasks.

Research profile

The applicant will be expected to demonstrate highly profiled and documented research experience within the scientific field of integrative physiology with emphasis on exercise, training, sports performance and health. Research activities should comprise basic physiology and applied studies, preferably with athletes and nutritional aspects of performance. Applicants will be expected to be able to lead and conduct training interventions in sports (practical and theoretical) and to have knowledge and experience with elite sport environments.

Applicants must have a completed PhD degree and be able to show documented research work (i.e. peer-reviewed papers, conference presentations) that complies with the research profile described above.

Teaching tasks

The position involves lecturing, primarily in basic and applied physiology and practical sport science at the bachelor and master levels. The applicant must show documented supervising experience at all graduate levels as well as formalized pedagogical and didactic qualifications and competences. The applicant must preferably be familiar with course management, educational development and experience with study administration.

Within a three-year period, non-Danish-speaking applicants will be expected to master the Danish language at a level which enables reading Danish exam papers and administrative documents and within five years enables the applicant to teach in Danish. The department offers free language classes and a reduction in workload to support non-Danish speaking employees.

Candidates with the following skills will be prioritized:

- A PhD degree within a field relevant to the position

- Research experience within the scientific field of integrative physiology with emphasis on exercise, training, sports performance and health

- Documented record of teaching and supervision experience at all levels relevant for the above-mentioned teaching tasks as well as formalized pedagogical and didactic qualifications and skills

- Motivation for a multidisciplinary research approach and collaboration across the organisation
