Department of Language, Culture, History and Communication invites applications for a PhD-fellowship in AntCom. The position is available starting 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Are you interested in cultural heritage, reception studies and/or the new frontiers of classics? Are you passionate about cutting-edge research but you also want to boost your skills by learning about new approaches and technologies? We might have something for you.
AntCom network publishes a call for 10 PhD fellowships within the training program “From Antiquity to Community: Rethinking Classical Heritage through Citizen Humanities”. The positions are funded by the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under the Marie Sktodowska-Curie Action, Grant Agreement 101073543.

Eligibility criteria
The call is open to applicants of any age and nationality who meet the following requirements at the recruitment date:
Any time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention (1951 Refugee Convention and the 1967 Protocol), compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays do not count towards the total.

Application, salary and conditions of employment etc.
A PhD Fellowship is a three-year position. Employment ends automatically by the end of the period. The holder of the fellowship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
To qualify for a PhD position you must have completed a relevant master's degree with a good assessment by the application deadline.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the Protocol on PhD Research Fellow signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2019 (the document only exists in Danish).
Applicants may apply for one or more positions, up to three positions in total. In case of multiple applications, applicants should submit one application with a separate research statement for each position and specify the priority order in their personal statement.
The following documents must be provided (please note that a page is considered as amounting to 2400 characters spaces included):
All applications documents must be drafted in English. For certificates and other official documents, we accept the following languages: Castilian, Catalan, Danish, English, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Rumanian, Spanish, and Swedish.
Please always include a copy of original diploma/certificates. We only accept files in pdf-format no more than 10 MB per file. In case you have more than one file per field you need to combine the pdf-files into a single file, as each field handles only one file. We do not accept zip-files, jpg or other image files. All pdf-files must be unlocked and allow binding and may not be password protected.
Applications will be assessed by an assessment committee and the applicant will receive the part of the evaluation that concerns him/her. The assessment report will subsequently be forwarded to the Head of Department who will assemble an appointments committee. An interview may form part of the overall assessment of the applicants' qualifications. The committee may request additional information, and if so, it is the responsibility of the applicant to provide the necessary material.
If the application does not meet the requirements mentioned above, the Faculty of Humanities may reject your application without further notice. Applications received after the deadline will neither be considered nor evaluated.
Shortlisting and tests may be used in the assessment process. Please note that only a shortlisted applicant will receive an assessment.

- Prior to the starting date of the PhD programme they must hold or be due to hold a Master's Degree (e.g., Master of Science or Master of Arts) that would grant them access to doctoral level studies in the country where the degree was conferred.
- Must not already hold a doctoral title.
- Must not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the recruiting organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately before the recruitment date (mobility Rule).

- Detailed CV (max 2 pages) with emphasis on prior academic achievements
- Research statement (max 2 pages) detailing how the applicant will approach the research project and how AntCom training goals fits into the applicant’s career plans. Please consider the reading list and leading questions included in each position’s description
- Copy of Bachelor's and Master's degree certificate and transcript of records
- PDF copy of the Master’s thesis
- Diploma Supplement or List of courses, grade/rank, teachers (optional)
- A reference letter by the MA supervisor and one other academic (or professionally relevant) reference, in particular if there are qualifications relevant to the position applied for that are not immediately evident from the submitted diplomas/transcripts (e.g. extra-curricular courses; voluntary attendance; no credits lending courses etc.)
- Copy of an ID document valid at the time of the interview
