A two-year postdoc position in Bioimaging for detection and visualization of nanoplastics in biological contexts is open at the at the Department Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Faculty of Science. The starting date is 1 September 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. Application deadline: 15 August 2023.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct research within the project "PlastTrack – a technology platform for micro- and nanoplastics tracking" supported by the Interreg Deutschland-Danmark 6a programme. The applicant will be working at the Danish Molecular Biomedical Imaging Center at the Department Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in close affiliation with the other PlastTrack partners.
The overall goal of PlastTrack focuses on developing a technological platform that automates the tracking and digital analysis of micro- and nanoplastics in cooperation with industrial partners.
The candidate for the present position will be focused on developing protocols for imaging micro and nanoplastics in biological settings such as in microorganisms, and in mammalian cell-based gut and skin models.
Experience with bioimaging techniques such as Laser scanning confocal microscopy, and live cell imaging and cell culture are essential to the project.
Potential candidates are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and documented research experience within molecular biology, advanced microscopy, cell culture, and image analysis. Experience in advanced microscopy such as STED or STORM could be an advantage. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidate is expected to have excellent collaboration skills. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing, is required.
