The Department of Psychology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, embedded within the Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a vacant full-time position as Associate Professor in humanistic and existential psychology. The position is permanent.
About us
The Department of Psychology has been established over the last 13 years and forms the research basis for the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark. Both degree programs are fully developed, and the first master's students graduated in August 2015.
The research foci of the Department include medical- and health psychology, biological and cognitive psychology, as well as clinical psychology. The research program is organized into various research groups, including e.g. The National Centre of Psychotraumatology.

We expect
The successful applicant is expected to be highly motivated and ambitious with strong and documented research skills in humanistic and existential psychology, and with a specific focus on qualitative methods.
We expect an applicant who aims to apply humanistic and existential themes not only to other psychological disciplines (e.g., health- or clinical psychology) but also to current societal challenges.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to attract competitive funding, to show strong communicative and collaborative skills, and to display the capability of building relationships across academia and key stakeholders.
The successful applicant will also have proven capabilities in teaching different areas of humanistic or existential psychology, in supervising bachelor- and master students, and preferably demonstrate experience in education planning and education program management.
We expect the successful applicant to be involved in knowledge transfer to society, to have administrative responsibilities and to teach/supervise students at all levels at the education program.
Finally, we prefer candidates that are able to help us forming and supporting the strategies of the Department of Psychology, and who have the ambition to make mutual working relationships thrive.
Qualifications and expectations
Potential candidates will be expected to have:
- A master's degree in psychology with a PhD degree
- Formalized pedagogical and didactic qualifications and competences
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
