Sønderborg
We are an international research group working in the field of organic photovoltaics, OPV (OPV group at SDU NanoSYD), which are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join our research team at University of Southern Denmark, SDU. The specific research topic for the postdoc position is energy and charge transfer processes in non-fullerene based organic photovoltaics. The position is available from October 2021, for a 2-year period with the possibility of extension.
The postdoc position is part of a new project supported by the Independent Research Fund Denmark, DFF FTP - Entangled PolaritonIC states for improved energy and charge transfer in non-fullerene Organic PhotoVoltaics, EPIC-OPV. The project is carried out in close collaboration between DTU and SDU, together with Paris-Sorbonne University as external partner.
The overall project objective is to investigate strong light-matter coupling in special architecture non-fullerene based organic photovoltaic devices, designed to study the role of such effects on the fundamental energy and charge transfer processes taking place in OPV devices. In addition to this opening, a PhD student will be working on the project at the lead partner DTU, under supervision of Prof. Jens Wenzel Andreasen. See more details at: DTU post
We seek a postdoc candidate for the development of non-fullerene based organic photovoltaic devices, and integration of those into optical cavities. This allows us to generate and study strong light-matter effects in such thin films and devices. The work will include OPV development from various different thin film deposition techniques both solution (e.g. slot-die coating) and vacuum (e.g. thermal evaporation) based having a focus on bilayer type devices. Optical cavity development and optimization will be part of this project, which will also include full thin film and device characterization, for example standard JV, external quantum efficiency, lifetime tests, optical spectroscopy, transient electrical and optical techniques, morphological studies, interface characterization, etc. These will be conducted in collaboration with the partners in project.
At the Organic Photovoltaics (OPV) group led by Professor WSR Morten Madsen at SDU NanoSYD, SDU campus Sønderborg, the focus is on development of new thin film photovoltaic devices with improved performance and device stability, by synthesis and in-depth studies of photovoltaic materials, thin films and their interfaces in the solar cell devices. The group has full access to an ISO5 cleanroom, a surface science laboratory facility for the full preparation and characterization of thin films and solar cell devices, and a complete roll-to-roll facility for thin film and device upscaling.
We are searching for a postdoc candidate that aim to and can develop own research ideas and carry out advanced research studies in the above areas, who can work together in a competitive research team, and can communicate scientific results in leading, high-ranked research journals. We offer fully funded postdoc position for the duration of two years with possible extension thereafter.
Candidates who have a previous PhD degree in a field relevant to the mentioned project may seek the position. Preferred candidates have: a strong background in applied physics/materials science, experience in fabrication and characterization of organic thin films and devices, e.g., solar cells, as well as experience in optical cavities or strong light-matter coupling effects. Candidates are expected to have authored relevant publications on some of these topics. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the work, the candidates are expected to have excellent collaboration skills. A very good capability of communicating scientific results in English, both orally and in writing is required. Research visits at the collaborating partners should be expected.
