We are looking for a Materials Test Engineer to join our blades and materials test team carrying out some of the most exciting projects in the industry. Specifically with efficient knowledge of metals, surfaces, and other materials to further develop our competencies within validation and reliability regarding testing of metal, surface treatment and alloys.
To do well in this position, you are a person who in close collaboration with our different engineering departments can ensure the right quality of the product we bring to the market.
Industrialisation Test & Verification Blade & Material Testing
The department is an integral part of the product development, from looking at the materials used through to the testing of full-scale blades. The purpose of the department is not only to work towards the certification of the products but to also increase the certainty of achievement in what is becoming a very hard-working market. We also have a good part to play in supporting our CIM organization with analysis of issues occurring in the field.
Responsibilities
You will be involved in both new development projects and continuous improvement projects in your daily work and with your specialized knowledge, you will ensure the quality of our fleet. You will maintain contacts all across Vestas which require that you are outgoing and enthusiastic. You are able to handle many projects at the same time and in different phases.

Typical responsibilities include:
- Preparing and reviewing technical specifications, dynamic calculations and review equipment requirements. Preparing technical documentation to support process improvements
- Specify test rig control systems and data acquisition requirements. Involvement in mechanical test systems integration and support design of electrical/electronic interfaces
- Collaborate with other Test Engineers to develop reports and specifications tests. Work with colleagues in the UK, DK and further afield - Engineers, Project Managers as examples
- Facilitating the Design Validation Plan and overseeing its execution in time for the business needs
- Participating in peer reviews and technical reviews where necessary, supporting 8D investigations
You should expect specific tasks:
- Evaluate material- and failure analysis
- Create and maintain standard operating procedures for the laboratory
- Support designers and the CIM organization in terms of material knowledge (specifications, root cause analysis, design, test set-up etc.)
Qualifications
- We are looking for a candidate with a background in Materials Science, Metallurgical, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Practical knowledge of using sophisticated scientific equipment such as SEM Microscope
Competencies
Furthermore, we expect that you have:
- Minimum 4 years of experience working with materials and materials testing
- Experience with failure analysis and root cause investigation
- Solid experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy and Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopic analyses
- Knowledge of 6-Sigma tools or similar
- An innovative, self-motivated and collaborative approach
- Commitment and what it takes to handle changing situations and multiple priorities
- Good IT skills within Microsoft Excel and data processing
