2021 Sleep specialist Swiss Sense, a Dutch family-owned business, acquired the Danish bed chain Drømmeland to expand into Denmark. Drømmeland, founded in 1982, with a network of 25 stores in Denmark is specialized in beds and sleep-related products. The expansion into Denmark is part of Swiss Sense' international growth strategy to become a market leader in Europe offering high quality bed products at fair prices by combining a people- and data centric approach. The acquisition increases the total number of Swiss Sense stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, and Denmark to 128.

The coming year is focused on integrating Drømmeland into the Swiss Sense organization. Strengthening our culture and creating winning teams play a crucial role in this. To make our dream come true in Denmark, we are expanding our organization with the new position of an HR Manager.

Role

In this role, you will report to the HR Director of Swiss Sense. You are part of the local management team and the international HR management team. In the areas of learning & development, rewarding, employee experience, employer branding, internal communications, you work closely with the subject specialists of Swiss Sense.

This HR role is new to the organization. It is initially a one-man position in which you will also perform operational work. In line with the development of the organization and international growth plans, you will build the HR function into a regional HR department.

Key responsibilities

  • With targeted programs, you are committed to creating a corporate culture and commitment appropriate to the values of the Swiss Sense family.
  • In close corporation with the international HR centre of expertise you will implement initiatives aimed at strengthening leadership, company culture and engagement.
  • You coordinate internal communication via the Swiss Sense communication platform.
  • With targeted employer branding and talent acquisition, you will ensure the acquisition of new talent.
  • You translate development programs to the local market and ensure proper on-boarding and training of employees in the stores.
  • Proactively support managers in the HR area with personnel issues.
  • You are responsible for the preparation and implementation of the local HR annual plan and annual budget.
  • You are involved in various international HR projects. Among others in the field of Talent Management, HR Analytics, Performance Management and Coaching & Development opportunities.
  • Finally, you are responsible for the personnel and salary administration.

Qualifications

  • You have an academic work and thinking level
  • You have minimum 7 years of experience as HR Manager or Senior HR Business Partner preferably in retail.
  • You are willing to engage at both strategic, tactical, and operational level.
  • You have communicative skills and are articulate.
  • You have a strong legal background
  • You are analytically strong and support the business with data-driven insights
  • You have an excellent command of Danish and English, both verbally and in writing
  • You are available fulltime

About Drømmeland

Drømmeland is a Danish bed retail chain founded in 1982 and one of the largest sleep specialists in the Danish bed retail market, focusing on high-quality products offering a wide range of beds, mattresses, and bedroom accessories. The retail network covers 25 outlets across the country, a web shop and two distribution centres. The head office is in Bagsværd, near Copenhagen. By November 2021, the company employed approx. 75 people. This number is expected to grow fast due to the plans for the Danish market.

With an extensive collection of beds, mattresses, bedding and accessories for the bedroom, the company wants everyone to get a good night's sleep. The history of the family business goes back more than one hundred years. Great-grandfather Piet Diks started the development of mattresses in 1918 in the Netherlands. In 2006, the doors of the first Swiss Sense shop in the Netherlands opened. Martin Diks (CEO), now the fourth generation of bed manufacturers, has been at the helm of the family business since 2017.
