In Maersk Procurement we are looking for our next Category Manager with global responsibilities to further develop and define the strategy for the Port & Canal category and at the same time support the leadership team on general analytics and reporting. As Category Manager in Maersk Procurement, you will contribute to developing and implementing procurement and category strategies to support the ongoing transformation to becoming the global integrator of container logistics.

We offer an exciting global opportunity leading the global Port & Canal category in Maersk. In addition to this, you will also be working with the leadership team on analytics and reporting requirements on regular basis which will be an opportunity to gain insights outside the immediate category scope. You will be part of the HQ Ocean Procurement team and work with experienced and dedicated people in a global team with significant impact on our strategy and ability to deliver on our targets.
As part of your responsibilities, you will engage and take lead with the global Port & Canal community, connecting 5 regional teams to share global guidance and best practices. Further to this, you will connect with multiple stakeholders across functions and geographies to define the direction and determine how we deliver on our promises to our customers.
This is also an opportunity to work with our ESG focal to define how to work with the increasingly important ESG agenda in this category.
Key Responsibilities
Your focus area will be to develop and drive the global Port & Canal category and lead the global communities consisting of regional procurement managers and other relevant parties. On top of this there is also a need to support with general analytics and management reporting on regular basis. You will:
- Lead the Port & Canal Category; develop, cascade, and maintain the category strategy
- Drive that Supplier Relationship Management is planned and done globally
- Engage the global communities and host community calls
- Align with relevant teams and owners on global/regional strategy and playbooks for key suppliers
- Align with the regional procurement teams on regional developments and playbooks
- Manage complex stakeholder landscape with high-profile stakeholders
- Actively participate in Global Projects – as part of the project team, as project manager or on steering committees depending on the nature and scope of the project
- Support with analytics and regular monthly management reporting
- As part of the global team, you will also have responsibilities outside your immediate category to support the day-to-day functional responsibilities. Examples could be preparation for performance reviews or global playbook meetings
Who we are looking for:
- Min 5 years’ experience with focus on Procurement, Sourcing, Network, Marine operations or similar
- Experience with Negotiations, Supplier Relationship Management with strategic suppliers and/or Performance Management. Understanding of or experience with working with public entities and/or governments is an advantage due to the nature of the suppliers in the category
- Category Management experience is an advantage
- Ability to exercise impact without direct authority
- Excellent stakeholder management and strong communication skills
- Actively uses data when making recommendations and decisions
- Comfortable with senior executives and can adapt approach and communication to audience
- Ambassador of company values and behaviors in a visible manner
- Ability to constructively challenge the status quo
- Excellent written and verbal communicator in English
