The Senior Programme manager will be part of the International Programme and Policy team (IPP) which consist of 4 units: Programme management Unit, Humanitarian Unit, People to People Unit and Fundraising unit. All units work together on support to the implementation of Thematic country and global programmes, development of new initiatives, fundraising together with our partners and continued learning and capacity building. IPP is placed in the International Cluster where we collaborate closely with Youth Organising and Activism team (YOA).

As the Senior Program Manager, you will be responsible for:


Managing designated programmes within our portfolio, including the following:

  • Coordinate the continued development of country programmes in close collaboration with partners and across AADK teams.
  • Provide technical inputs to thematic programmes (country and global levels) according to the Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) and other relevantmethods.
  • Coordinate and provide technical input into the development of annual plans and budgets.
  • Keep informed and updated on country context (political, economic, social) of the countries of responsibility.
  • Responsible for coordinating country programme groups and focal point for formal communication with partnership countries.
  • Monitor the implementation of programmes in countries.
  • Grant’s administration, incl. ensuring quality input to Danida reporting.
  • Coordination of country reviews, which include a strong learning and accountability focus.
  • Support partners in developing new project or programme proposals.
  • Engage in external communication and representation when needed.

The job requires that you have:


  • More and 6 years of experience with programme- and project cycle management including strong financial management skills.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience from working in a development country in a programme function.
  • Solid experience with development of larger development programmes, including facilitating the participation of multiple global stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of or experience with working/collaborating with young people, social movements and/or youth activism and campaigning.
  • Knowledge of or experience working with programme adaptation in nexus between the Humanitarian and Development approach.
  • Full proficiency in written and spoken English.

And it is an advantage if you have:


  • Experience with reporting to institutional donors, such as Danida, EU etc.
  • Solid experience with the Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) and commitment to ActionAid’s Feminist Leadership Principles
  • Excellent communication, coordination as well as networking and facilitation skills
  • Good cultural understanding/sensitivity and the ability to build confidence and trust with partners.
  • Fluency in Danish and/or French

  • An 8-year fixed-term appointment with working full time 37 hours/week including approximately 30 travel days/year;

  • Interviews: The first round of interviews is expected to be conducted in week 23 and the second round in the following week including the possibility of a technical assignment in between the two interview rounds.
