BioPhero is a biotechnology start-up in Copenhagen dedicated to making affordable and safe insecticide replacements. Our mission is to lead the global transition towards sustainable agriculture, where safe pheromone-based products constitute the primary method for pest control.

BioPhero was founded in 2016 as a spin-out from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and has attracted investments from DCVC Bio, FMC Corporation, Novo Seeds and Syngenta Group Ventures as well as project grants from the EU. Our 28 employees are centrally located in Copenhagen.

We are a young and diverse scientific team, who are transitioning to become a full-scale manufacturing company. We are looking for a Fermentation Scientist to help us on this journey.

About the role:

As the Fermentation Scientist, you will create novel and improve existing fermentation processes to produce various pheromones. You will be responsible for the fermentation R&D at laboratory scale and will collaborate closely with the up-scaling team, who will translate the processes into pilot and full manufacturing scale. You will also collaborate with the strain development team and provide feedback on the direction set for strain development. You will work together with a skilled fermentation research assistant and report directly to the Chief Scientific Officer.

Qualifications:

• You are a passionate and creative fermentation expert with a PhD degree and preferably some industrial experience;
• You are goal-oriented and plan and execute efficiently;
• Personally, you are independent, accommodating and flexible, and you will thrive in a team where we work hard but have lots of fun.
