We are seeking a talented Scientist to be part of Novo Nordisk A/S and participate in changing the quality of life for millions of people with cardiovascular diseases (CVD).
About the department
Cardiovascular Research is a new department in Global Drug Discovery, Novo Nordisk A/S. As part of Novo Nordisk’s new strategy within chronic diseases, this department has a focus towards target identification, validation and pre-clinical progression of new treatment options for atherosclerosis and chronic heart failure. Currently, the department consists of 18 employees and 5 PhD students/post docs. We develop, characterise and use in vitro assays, mode-of-action studies and animal models for early evaluation of drug candidates. Laboratory work is carried out by technical staff and scientists as well as outsourced as contract research.
The position
We are seeking a talented Research Scientist to join our in vivo biology team. You will be part of a multidisciplinary project group identifying new treatment options for CVD. We seek an individual with expertise in in-vivo and ex-vivo models related to cardiovascular disease. The job encompasses active engagement in innovation within early stage research that has potential to substantially impact future CVD treatment. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing in vivo pharmacology strategy and execution for projects in the CV disease area, including atherosclerosis and heart failure. The candidate is expected to use approximately 30% of the time in the laboratory. Furthermore, the candidate will take part in identifying new target opportunities as well as evaluating potential external opportunities from academia, biotech or pharma. This role requires extensive and close collaboration with the Translational Science and other functions such as bioinformatics, safety, bioanalysis, etc.
Qualifications
You hold a PhD and have experience in biological sciences with in-depth knowledge and proven scientific track-record in cardiovascular pathophysiology (mandatory). You have significant hands on experience in animal models of atherosclerosis (mandatory) and heart failure (a plus). Experience in developing and validating in vivo models with key functional and translational readouts is a plus. Additionally, experience working in industry and/or collaborating with contract research organisations is an advantage. Furthermore, a solid international scientific network as well as holding an international Ph.D., post doc or work experience is an advantage. In addition to your scientific profile, you are a dedicated, open-minded, and innovative team player with good collaboration skills, organized and result oriented.
