The Position The Director Public Affairs and Advocacy is responsible to develop and execute a comprehensive, global Cell therapy and ATMPs government affairs strategies to shape public policy, legislative, and regulatory environments. The role provides strategic direction and supports the cell therapy leadership teams to facilitate strategy development, policy development, coalition building with aligned stakeholders, and strategy execution. You will be an integral member of our commercial leadership team. Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute comprehensive global government affairs strategies that includes policy development, message development, coalition building, securing third-party engagement, advocacy, and creating and disseminating advocacy materials and tools.
  • Facilitate thought leadership and best practices on cell therapy policy, regulatory, and reimbursement across internal and external stakeholders in JP, US, EU, and China
  • In the short term, a focus on proactively shaping the EU regulatory landscape, and EU level policies impacting Member State reimbursement and value frameworks to enable faster and better uptake of innovative cell therapies
  • Develop and implement an EU and global thought leadership programme including alliance-building, partnerships, and Senior Executive engagement
  • Proactively explore and evaluate potential/emerging policy proposals in key regions
  • Leads engagement with third-party advocacy organisations (as appropriate), including health care policy thought leaders, professional societies and aligned patient and provider groups.
  • Build and cultivate strategic internal networks of relationships internally (across the value chain)
  • Ensures compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree is required, advanced degree preferred
  • Comprehensive experience with policy development, advocacy, government affairs or other relevant experience required, ideally cell/gene therapy experience
  • Strong relationship builder, cross-functional team collaborator skills is required
  • Strong executive presence and communication/presentation skills that engage senior leaders among internal and external audiences
  • Ability to convey passion and generate excitement and enthusiasm about Novo Nordisk
  • Proven track record of effective strategic planning, execution and follow up
  • Previous experience working in a matrixed organizational structure
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to make sound business arguments to influence external decision makers as well as to establish Novo Nordisk’s reputation as a valued partner
