The Patient Relation team is a dynamic, energetic, fast paced team that works to ensure that the voice of the patient is integrated across our value chain and to develop, engage and manage strategic relationships with the patient advocacy and patient community in general. The insights and learnings shared by the patient community help drive internal strategies and decisions which are beneficial to the patients.

We are currently seeking an Associate Patient Relation Manager to support our patient engagement and advocacy ambition in R&D. This role is charged to making critical contributions to Novo Nordisk´s efforts to our R&D patient engagement activities and delivering solutions which are mutually beneficial to Novo Nordisk and the communities we engage with.

This is a temporary position untill December 2020.

About the department

Our Global Patient Relations team puts our patient-centred approach into practice by partnering with a network known as the Disease Experience Expert Panels (DEEPs). DEEPs are made up of individuals living with chronic diseases, or relatives of those who are, who can provide disease specific insights and advice based on their own experiences. Their input guides every part of our care delivery model from how we research and develop innovative new treatments, to how we support individuals who use our treatments to achieve the best possible health outcomes.

The Global Patient Relations team works with DEEP members on a range of different projects, including advisory boards, workshops, interviews and partnerships.

The Position

The Associate Patient Relations Manager will serve as the operational lead for the R&D patient engagement strategy and projects. You will work very closely with the R&D patient engagement lead to accelerate integrated patient engagement strategies and activities across Novo Nordisk´s R&D portfolio and value chain (early scientific dialogue, clinical trials). You will also support key public-private R&D projects for coordination of patient engagement and advocacy scope of work.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to, support the development and deployment of the global R&D engagement strategy and related initiatives, work with R&D and clinical operations to ensure the patient voice is embedded in the R&D process and insights are shared collaboratively to best meet the needs of patients for our pipeline, develop plans and execute patient engagement activities including program/agenda planning, project and task management, communications and outcome report, develop and maintain tools and resources to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, act as the internal ambassador for the patient perspective, lead and develop internal and external communications of patient insights and best practices, and represent Novo Nordisk and participate in relevant external meetings throughout the year.

Qualifications

For this position its required that you have:

  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree in Scientific / Life Science, Public Health, Policy or a related field is required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience in or exposure to outreach and patient advocacy, and knowledge of public policy, public affairs in general.
  • Understanding of key trends affecting patient engagement and new forms of patient interactions (e.g. social media and online communities)
  • Functional competencies including but not limited to, organization, prioritization and planning skills, negotiation skills, communication & presentation skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and maturity to interact with people of diverse background
  • High ethical standards and consistent adherence to compliance and transparency policies in relation to working with third parties, particularly Patient organization
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
