The Center for Chromosome Stability (www.ccs.ku.dk) is seeking two motivated laboratory assistants to help with routine tasks. The posts are available from July 1, 2021, or soon thereafter, and the employment period will be temporary for one year.
Background
The CCS is a center of excellence funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. Its mission is to conduct basic biomedical research on the role of chromosome abnormalities in the development of human disease. The CCS is anchored in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine (www.icmm.ku.dk) and supports seven scientific groups comprising postdoctoral fellows, PhD students and experienced laboratory technicians.
Terms of employment
The employments are made in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Organisations of Public Employees – governmental institutions (the OAO-S collective agreement) and the Professional Agreement for clerical employees, laboratory technicians and IT officers in the State.
The average working hours is 15 hours per week. Your place of work will be at University of Copenhagen, Center for Chromosome Stability, Blegdamsvej 3B, DK-2200 Copenhagen N.
The position will be co-supervised by Laboratory Manager Rasmus Frank. Because of the international make-up of the center, the working language is mainly English.
Job tasks
The tasks will include:
• Assisting with general lab maintenance, including bringing down trash
• Participation in daily and weekly operational routines (deliveries/storage etc.)
• Assisting with maintenance of reagent/tool resources
• Basic laboratory support (assisting with lab organization and cleaning).
Most of these tasks will require presence during normal working hours.
Profile
We are looking for a laboratory assistant with the following characteristics:
• Basic knowledge of chemistry and use of chemical agents
• Knowledge about laboratory safety procedures
• Good communication skills, Danish and English, since the working language is English
• Service-minded and flexible in relation to working hours
• Detail-oriented
• Good experience working in Word and Excel.
It will be an advantage if you have experience with the mentioned tasks through work in an international research environment.
