Job description
As part of the Fermentation R&D team, which collaborates closely with the Strain Development team, your tasks will range from strain and process validation to integrated process development, including fermentation and recovery.
You will refer to the Fermentation Scientist on day-to-day operations of a series of lab-scale 1L bioreactors, which are used to characterise our engineered microorganisms and to produce pheromones. You will be responsible for preparing, running and collecting data from fermentation runs, including:
As fermentation work involves a rolling sampling schedule, flexibility towards occasional but limited off-hour work, including weekends, is a requirement.

You will refer to the Fermentation Scientist on day-to-day operations of a series of lab-scale 1L bioreactors, which are used to characterise our engineered microorganisms and to produce pheromones. You will be responsible for preparing, running and collecting data from fermentation runs, including:
- Inoculum and medium preparation, sterilisation, sampling, sample preparation and analysis, process monitoring, maintenance and cleaning of equipment and laboratories
- Batch documentation, data handling and reporting of analytical results
- Periodic review and improvement of experimental methods and workflows
As fermentation work involves a rolling sampling schedule, flexibility towards occasional but limited off-hour work, including weekends, is a requirement.
Qualifications
- You are a trained laboratory technician or hold an academic degree in microbiology, biochemical engineering or related discipline
- You have hands-on experience with lab routines for microbiology
- You have interest in and perhaps a little passion for yeast fermentation
- You work independently and efficiently and take pride in maintaining meticulous work and documentation practices
- You are fluent in English, oral and written
