A clinical position as consultant of wound healing at the Department of Dermato-Venereology and Wound Healing Center at Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital in combination with Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen is open for appointment from as soon as possible.
The position is combined with a 5-year externally funded position as clinical professor of Orthopedic Surgery, with special focus on wound healing and amputations at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen.
It is a requirement that the applicant is accepted for appointment of both the professorship and the consultancy.

Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital is a large, general acute care hospital for the urban population of Copenhagen, the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care is one of the largest departments at the hospital with several diverse functions and collaborations. The Department has a defined strategy, where the aim is to secure the best outcome for the patients by recruiting and retaining the best qualified employees. Our focus is to provide a safe and timely treatment of high quality, consider the patient’s perspective and to offer a well-coordinated and effective course of perioperative and intensive care treatment. The staff at the department is characterized by being ambitious and seeking co-influence.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
The Wound Healing Center at Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital has clinical expertise in specialised wound care and surgical revisions of chronic wounds, tendons, toes/feet, skin grafts and infections. Clinical functions comprise promotion of healing of chronic wounds of vascular, diabetic and immunological origins. Together with Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen emphasis is put on the prevention of wound formation and amputations of limbs in patients with diabetes. The research activities at the Wound Healing Center encompass several topics within clinical, technological, epidemiological, and basic laboratory science in wound healing and collaborative projects are performed with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Department of Endocrinology at Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital, Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen and the University of Copenhagen.
Research and teaching
With this new position as consultant in wound healing and clinical professor of Orthopedic Surgery, with special focus on wound healing and amputations the Department of Dermato-Venereology and Wound Healing Center, Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital together with Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen wishes to strengthen the leadership in clinical research and teaching in collaboration with the University of Copenhagen.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in orthopedic surgery.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital and Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g. research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen. The remaining time will be allocated for clinical work in agreement with the head of department of Dermato-Venereology and Wound Healing Center, Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital. The clinical professor will receive secretarial or technical support equivalent to 50 % of a full time secretary position from the department of Dermato-Venereology and Wound Healing Center, Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital. Additional support and details on the working conditions must be negotiated with the head of the department of Dermato-Venereology and Wound Healing Center, Bispebjerg-Frederiksberg Hospital.
