ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine at Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg is a medium sized nuclear medicine department renowned for being both innovative and collaborative within both the clinical field as well as research. The department has collaboration with and supports the clinical departments as well as the general practitioners in the area with a wide range of diagnostic options ranging from classical physiologic examinations to advanced nuclear medicine techniques. Evidence-based medicine and examinations requires knowledge, research and a continuous development of the diagnostic options. In line with that, the department has recently in partnership with others developed and installed a dedicated water cyclotron, which allows to do state-of-the-art perfusion studies with PET technology – not only in well-established areas as perfusion studies of the heart - but also moving in to new applications, as for example perfusion studies of kidneys, lungs and other organs.
Clinical functions and focus areas of the department
Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg has several larger clinical departments within different medical specialities - neurology, cardiology, pulmonary medicine and gastroenterology. The Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine is well covered in terms of research within the neurological and metabolic areas, but lacks research weight within the cardio-respiratory area. The hospital's patient populations within both the cardiology and respiratory areas are large, with a great need for further research and development of the diagnostic options as well as research into pathophysiological processes related to these disease categories. There is also a growing need for better diagnostic options and interdisciplinary collaboration aiming at evolving new knowledge in close collaboration with the clinical departments and other departments in the region within the cardio-respiratory Department of area.
Research and teaching
With the new position as consultant of Clinical Physiology at Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg Hospital and clinical professor of Clinical Physiology with special focus on Cardio-respiratory Pathophysiology the Department of Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine wishes to strengthen leadership in clinical research and teaching.
Qualifications
Applicants must be board-certified specialist in Clinical Physiology and Nuclear Medicine.
Conditions
In order to be considered, the applicant must send an application to both the Faculty (the professorship) and to the hospital (the consultancy) cf. the simultaneously advertised position of the professorship. Appointment is conditioned by the fact that the applicant obtains both positions. This also applies to the applicants who are already employed as consultants at Copenhagen University Hospital – Bispebjerg and Frederiksberg.
Salary and conditions of employment as consultant are as agreed between the Danish Regions and the Danish Association of Medical Specialists and between the Capital Region/Region Zealand and University of Copenhagen.
As clinical professor at least 50 % of the working time will be allocated to academic tasks (e.g., research, teaching, evaluation tasks and communication with the public) in agreement with the Head of Department of Department of Clinical Medicine at the University of Copenhagen.
