The International People’s College (da. Den Internationale Højskole) is looking for a Folk High School teacher (Da. højskolelærer) to take up a position at the school from primo October, or at the earliest convenience thereafter. The position is a time limited hourly paid position.
The successful candidate will be able to teach ASIAN LIFE AND THOUGHT as a regional study programme or a subject similar to that, i.e. Asian Studies, Asian Cultures and Societies. The subject is nominated at 4 hourly lessons, but the successful candidate could potentially offer a second subject with the same nomination. Other subjects could include, but not limited to:
You will NOT be considered for this position if your main area of competence isn’t covering the above mentioned regional study programme.
You might have a degree in Asian Studies, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, Ethnography or have extensive experience from living in the region (yes, we know it’s a vast region) and we do consider teaching experience an advantage, but not necessarily a prerequisite for employment.
Supplementary competences could include:
Musical skills (i.e. being able to lead a morning fellowship song session either instrumentally or as vocal lead)
You will become a part of a vibrant campus with 100 young students, age 18-35, from more than 30 different countries and a group of teachers who value cultural diversity, academic excellence and inclusive as well as innovative teaching methods. We expect the ideal candidate to have an understanding of young people, the complexities, when to intervene, when to give space, as well as be role models for our students.
