We are looking for a highly motivated Research assistant to support our efforts in improving our understanding of early stages of the development of oral diseases and risk of later development of obesity, T2D and CVD to commence September 1, 2021 or after agreement.
Background
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research’s vision is to strengthen interdisciplinary research that transforms our basic understanding of the mechanisms that underlie metabolic health and disease, and to accelerate this knowledge toward new prevention and treatment strategies. We were established in 2010 and in 2017, we moved into new laboratories, offices and meeting rooms in the Maersk Tower www.maersktower.ku.dk.

The Hansen Group investigates the human genome and the human global microbiome to characterize the impact of these genomes on health and disease and to identify interactions between the host and the microbiome. You can read more about the Hansen Group here.
Your job
We are looking for a Research assistant who can join the existing collaboration with the Department of Odontology and Cancer Society in unraveling the relationship between oral and metabolic health. Based upon knowledge and experience, we expect the candidate to contribute to scientific discussions, interpretation of data and the preparation of scientific publications. The candidate will have a great opportunity to advance his/her basic research skills. Based upon his/her performance, the successful candidate may also have the opportunity to seek a PhD position in the Hansen group.

The place of employment is at Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Maersk Tower, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment as research assistant is a full-time and fixed-term position for 1 year, with the possibility of extension as PhD-student based on performance. Expected starting date is September 1, 2021 or after agreement. Employment will be in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

Profile
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Research assistant with the following competencies and experience:
Essential experience and skills
- You have a MSc degree in Human Biology or similar, with previous research experience
- You have experience in data analysis using R
- You have hands-on experience in genetic association analysis
- You have an active interest in genetic epidemiology
- You have an active interest in oral diseases and their role on general and metabolic health
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English
Desirable experience and skills
- Service-minded and good collaboration skills
- You are self-motivated and highly organized
