The Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences seeks to appoint a professor within Medical Gross Anatomy to the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine to commence on 1 March 2024.
Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine focuses on basic cellular and molecular biological processes, their regulation and their significance for cell function, interaction and organisation in tissues. The Department offers comprehensive undergraduate and graduate teaching programs spanning cell biology, genetics and basic human biology, including chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, as well as anatomy.

Job description and required qualifications
In evaluating candidates for the professorship, utmost importance will be placed on the ability to demonstrate original scientific work at an international level, but also on the proficiency to spearhead the evolution of an educational program within the realm of Medical Gross Anatomy.
The professorial appointee is required to conduct research and / or innovation and candidates are expected to document scientific activities at an international level within an area relevant to one of the Department’s research programs. A proven track record to conduct research that bridges basic biomedical and clinical science is important. Emphasis will be placed on the candidate’s skills and ability to continuously develop the subject area. The professorship also entails an obligation to conduct research management and other managerial functions to the extent appropriate for the tasks and requirements of the Department. The distribution between the different tasks may vary periodically.
The position entails an obligation to teach Medical Gross Anatomy, to head the course in Medical Gross Anatomy, and to head the collections in Medical Gross Anatomy as well as other administrative tasks. The professor of medical gross anatomy will play a crucial role in actualizing this vision, not only by building upon the foundation of the Department’s past successes but also by ensuring that our anatomy education remains at the forefront of technological and pedagogical innovation.
Applicants must therefore have experience in leading a course in Medical Gross Anatomy or related courses. They must also possess extensive knowledge about how a course in Medical Gross Anatomy fits into the study programs provided by the Department and the Faculty, for example by having experience in leading a medical education program.
The professor’s duties will primarily consist of:
