European School Copenhagen is seeking to appoint outstanding and enthusiastic teachers of English as a first foreign language in our Lower Secondary school from August 2021. The candidate must be qualified to teach the subject and be fully proficient in English L2 and L3.
We have 1-2 positions as a part time/temporary (maternity cover) with the possibility of full-time and with the possibility of extension.
Tenure: maternity cover, part-time
Qualifications: Qualified to teach English in the Lower Secondary school

European School Copenhagen (ESCPH) is an international school funded by the City of Copenhagen and a department of the internationally renowned Sankt Annæ Gymnasium.
ESCPH opened in August 2014 and has three language sections, English, French and Danish, from nursery class to secondary 5. Next year secondary 6 is opening and in 2022/2023 the school will be fully phased in and will have approximately 1,000 students.
ESCPH is an accredited school within the established European School system, following the rigorous educational requirements for European Schools combined with Danish pedagogy and working guidelines.
The mission of the European Schools is to provide a multilingual and multicultural education for nursery, primary and secondary students and thus have a very strong focus on language learning. Students begin to learn their first foreign language in Primary 1 and are later taught several subjects, including History and Geography, in their first foreign language.

Requirements
- Teaching qualification
- Fluent English speaker/mother tongue proficiency
- Deep knowledge of the subject and up-to-date knowledge of best practice pedagogy and teaching practices
- Proven experience in teaching the relevant age group
- Outstanding commitment and ability to motivate students to learn, think independently and reach their potential
- Ability to differentiate the teaching to challenge all students
The ideal candidate will have
- Experience in international or intercultural education
- Good IT skills
- Strong social and communications skills
- A desire to contribute to the ongoing development of the school
