Job description
The Department of Technology and Innovation (ITI), University of Southern Denmark (SDU) in Odense, invites applications for vacant positions as part-time teacher and supervisor.
We are looking for a teacher (part-time) in the profession of Product Development and Design Engineering.
If you have a professional background in Product Development and Design Engineering and is passionate about teaching, we can offer you a unique opportunity to teach our dedicated and curious students. If you furthermore are motivated to participating in engaging industry in our teaching in the section, we would very much like to hear from you.
Qualifications
For our section SDU Innovation and Design Engineering we are looking for a Teaching Assistant with experience in Product Development, Design Engineering or similar. We prefer applicants with experience in teaching and supervision within the following domains:
• Prototyping as a Tool in the Entrepreneurial Process
• Experience Based Design
• Engineering Creativity
• Project supervision
The successful candidate:
• You hold an engineering degree or similar in design engineering, maybe a master’s degree or even an PhD.
• You are skilled in presenting your knowledge in a pedagogical way. Preferably, you have some experience in teaching at the university level.
• You have a strong interest in supervising and motivating engineering students for their project-based learning.
• You have an ambition to develop yourself – and us. We emphasize that our employees develop continuously and further educate themselves. Only through continuous development can we ensure the quality of education.
• You are a networker for proactively be seeking collaboration with industry with the aim of scouting for projects for the IDE section.
• You are committed and enterprising. In return we offer a job with flexibility in the organization of your work.
• Professional in teaching in English.
Project-based learning
We emphasize applied education and collaboration with industry. It is expected that you hold relevant work experience within your field of expertise, i.e. Product Development and Design Engineering.
The position as Teaching Assistant is time limited and without fixed hours. Hours are agreed upon based on individual basis.
Quality in teaching is of high priority to us
Our educational courses are generally organized with a combination of theory courses and project-based work and we expect you to participate in both activities. The teaching plan of each semester is planned in teams, and we expect that you will actively engage in the continuous development of the future engineering educations.
The Department of Technology and Innovation (ITI) includes research and teaching within several professional areas and organized around sectorial units employing approximately 90 researchers and teachers.

Application and terms of employment
The position as teaching assistant is a part-time limited position without fixed hours. The hours will be planned prior to each semester.
As a part of the compiled assessment of the applicant’s qualifications an interview may occur.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
