The Department of Psychology, University of Southern Denmark, Odense, embedded within the Faculty of Health Sciences, invites applications for a vacant fulltime position as Associate Professor in developmental psychology. The position is permanent and is available from May 1, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
About us
The Department of Psychology has been established over the last 14 years and forms the research basis for the bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in psychology at the University of Southern Denmark. Both degree programs are fully developed, and the first master's students graduated in August 2015.
The Department is committed to advancing psychological science and its practical application, and our research goals encompass understanding human emotion, cognition, and behavior, including both functional and dysfunctional processes. We aim to enhance human health through translational research, covering dissemination, prevention, intervention, treatment, and education.
The Department is organized into four units, including 1) health and medical psychology, 2) clinical psychology, 3) cognitive and biological psychology, and 4) existence, community, and society.

The successful applicant will present as highly motivated and ambitious, with strong and documented research skills in developmental psychology, and more specifically with research addressing and including development of children.
We expect an applicant who aims to apply developmental themes not only to other psychological disciplines (e.g., health- or clinical psychology) but also to current societal challenges, preferably with a specific research focus on children.
The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to attract competitive funding, to show strong communicative and collaborative skills, and display the capability of building relationships across academia and key stakeholders.
The successful applicant recognizes development as life-long and has proven capabilities in teaching different areas of developmental psychology, in supervising bachelor- and master students, and preferably demonstrate experience in education planning and management.
We expect the successful applicant to be involved in knowledge transfer to society, to have administrative responsibilities and to teach/supervise students at all levels of the education program.
In conclusion, we anticipate the candidate actively participating in departmental activities and contributing to a positive work environment. This involvement extends to engaging in both current strategies and the future development initiatives of the Department of Psychology.

Qualifications
- A master's degree in psychology with a PhD degree
- Formalised pedagogical and didactic qualifications and competences
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
