The Research Unit of User Perspectives and Community-based Interventions, Department of Public Health, University of Southern Denmark (SDU), invites applications for a full-time (or part-time depending on applicant) position as an assistant or an associate professor.
The research group of Occupation Science is nested within the Research Unit of User Perspectives and Community-based Interventions. The unit is one of seven research units at the Department of Public Health. The unit includes two research groups: User Perspectives and Occupational Science, respectively. The open position is within Occupational Science.
The research group of Occupational Science engages in research focusing on the relationships between human activity, the health of individuals/collectives, and communities in given socio-cultural contexts.
Among the core areas of our research are studies focusing on:
Our research lies within areas of health promotion, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care across the lifespan.
Required qualifications
The successful candidate has a PhD within Occupational Science or related field within Health Science.
The potential candidate will be expected to have:
Position obligations
The successful applicant will contribute with own research within Occupational Science either as an assistant or an associate professor. The associate professor will preferably function as leader of the master’s program in Occupational Therapy in close collaboration with the Head of studies for the master’s programs in Health Sciences at SDU.
Furthermore, the candidate will be expected to be able to attract continuous funding to partially finance own research as well as additional positions at the unit and to communicate research with involvement in:
In addition to leadership and/or involvement in the Master’s program in Occupational Therapy, the successful candidate will be expected to be engaged in teaching, supervision and examination at several educations at the graduate and postgraduate level at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
Applicants with experience and dedication to teaching and supervising students will be preferred.

- The consequences of disease/illness, including functional impairment
- Environmental barriers for activity, and participation in everyday living

- Activity as means for dealing with health and illness and create meaning in everyday life.

Required qualifications
The successful candidate has a PhD within Occupational Science or related field within Health Science.
The potential candidate will be expected to have:
- A documented track record for external funding and international publications.
- Experience with research management and implementation of research projects.
- A teaching portfolio including undergraduate and preferably also at graduate level within health educations.
- Management experience on courses at undergraduate and graduate level.
- The candidate must present a plan for the development of his/her own research in relation to occupational science.
Position obligations

- Research seminars, including receiving and providing feedback on e.g. manuscripts, oral presentations and posters
- Possessing research competencies within the field of Occupational Science
- Developing and coordinating research activities within the field of Occupational science in collaboration with relevant research groups/units.
In addition to leadership and/or involvement in the Master’s program in Occupational Therapy, the successful candidate will be expected to be engaged in teaching, supervision and examination at several educations at the graduate and postgraduate level at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
