The department is responsible for the complete project lifecycle for newbuilding, ship retrofitting and conversions, ship recycling, technical innovation and a variety of other specialist technical services to the Maersk fleet of more than 300 container vessels.
An exciting role with the world’s largest vessel operator, where you will play a key role in designing vessels of the future.
You will be part of projects with a large variation in complexity and size, from small investigations to large fleet-wide retrofit projects impacting the way the fleet is operated.

In this position, you will have an opportunity to acquire skills and knowledge in the following areas:
• Newbuilding
• Retrofit
• Ship management support

You will work in close co-operation with Machinery and Naval Architect colleagues in Fleet Technology as well as our Fleet Management & Technology colleagues responsible for managing the fleet.
In return, there will be plenty of room for personal development as well as the opportunity to help progress the leading edge of shipping.
As Senior Maritime Electrical Engineer you are responsible for managing Newbuilding projects within electrical, automation, navigation, advanced control engineering and communication discipline.
You will:
Manage the Fleet Electrification program execution in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage electrical and automation retrofit projects as required, including defining scope, planning, execution and cost saving validation.
Assist in design and developments of future vessel electrical and automation systems.
Act as Subject Matter Expert for projects in close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders.
Preparing and reviewing technical specifications and drawings, and partaking in negotiations with shipyards and suppliers.
Participate in project commissioning as required to ensure performance according to specifications.
A Marine or Electrical Engineer with a passion for design and engineering of electrical and automation systems onboard vessels. A minimum of 5 years work experience from an organization focusing on ship design possibly covering newbuilding and/or retrofit of container vessels.
Preferably holding some experience as project manager or engineer in implementation of large complex electrical and automation projects onboard vessels.
Process-driven background and proactive in formulating strategies with a keen interest in maritime electrification. Experience in the area of wind turbines or wind farms will be an advantage.
In-depth understanding of concept design and integration of different electrical, automation and navigation systems onboard (covering diesel–electric vessels, medium-voltage DC grid and smart/microgrid configurations with batteries, solar PV, fuel cells, flywheels and super capacitors) will be an advantage.
Has an international mindset and shows excitement to engage and deal with multiple stakeholders even in challenging situations.
Preferably has experience in supervising and leading small technical team of engineers on site.
Demonstrates strong technical and analytical skills.
Understanding of business case development will be an advantage.
Good communication in English written and verbal, with presentation and facilitation skills.
In return, there will be plenty of room for personal development as well as the opportunity to help progress the leading edge of shipping.
