A traineeship at OBT Shipping is an intensive two-year program consisting of both theoretical and practical training.

As a trainee at OBT Shipping you will follow the theoretical training of the Commercial Shipping/Logistics Program with other Danish and international Shipping/Logistics Trainees. Throughout the program you will be stationed in one of our offices in West and Central Africa, with the exception of the school periods held in Denmark.

The theoretical training consists of a unique combination of classroom sessions and e-learning. You learn about Maritime Economics, Maritime Law, Negotiation Technique, Cultural Awareness and Ship Knowledge. The practical training takes place at one of our offices in West and Central Africa where you will gain extensive knowledge about the areas of shipping: Agency, Operation, Project & Logistics and Chartering.

YOUR COMPETENCES

We are looking for a candidate who is dynamic and industrious prepared to work in a different culture and environment, in the busy West African market. Furthermore, you take pride in your work, and act with a high degree of responsibility and independency. Your communicative skills are strong, which enables you to build collaborative relationships with your colleagues and customers. If you have earlier experiences in developing countries, it will be an advantage, but it is not a demand. In addition to this there are some basic requirements:

• Fluent in verbal and written Danish and English. French would be an advantage.
• As minimum graduated upper secondary education, e.g. HHX or STX.
