External Innovation Project Director Are you excited about identifying external innovation to supplement the internal pipeline for the world’s leading diabetes care company? The position
As our External Innovation Project Director in the Diabetes unit, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the external innovation agenda for the Diabetes franchise. The goal is to supplement the internal R&D pipeline with external innovation (assets/companies for acquisition/in-licensing/partnering) that have a strong strategic fit and can help expand Novo Nordisk’s leadership in Diabetes. You will be responsible for: Guiding the Business Development (BD) organisation on what external innovation opportunities to search for in Diabetes. This will take a starting point in the Diabetes strategy and identified future patient segments Be the voice of the commercial Diabetes franchise in evaluations of specific external assets by assessing strategic fit, positioning, business model, target product profile etc. This includes representing commercial in cross-functional “global project teams”. Ensuring alignment with the strategy and sponsorship from the SVP of the Diabetes unit Involving relevant parts of the commercial Diabetes organisation – in assessments of external opportunities - across Marketing, Market Access & Pricing and Medical Affairs. This includes a seamless handover to the relevant commercial team after deal closing Working closely with the New Product Planning team to have a shared view of future innovation needs and where to supplement the internal pipeline with external innovation
The role offers strong exposure to the commercial Diabetes Leadership Team and will provide broad insights into Novo Nordisk’s global Diabetes franchise across the entire value chain. Qualifications A Master’s degree in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Business, or Economics. +10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical / bio-technology industry in commercial roles. Experience with Business Development and/or M&A will be an advantage. High exposure to science through professional experience or significant academic background. Experience within diabetes/obesity/cardiovascular commercialization will be highly appreciated. Excellent strategy toolbox and structured problem-solving skills with the ability to tackle complex problems and provide actionable insights and recommendations. Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. On a personal level is it important that you have excellent stakeholder management/influencing skills and can engage with multiple senior stakeholders. You have the ability to distil information into clear and compelling written presentations. About the department
Diabetes Early Portfolio & Insights is anchored in the commercial Diabetes unit and reports directly to the SVP. We are responsible for developing the Diabetes Strategy and driving the execution in close collaboration with stakeholders across the value chain. We focus on the intersection between business and science as we are responsible for providing commercial guidance to R&D, guiding early diabetes pipeline projects. Moreover, we provide actionable insights based on competitive intelligence, market research and forecasting to enable fact-based decision making.
