Do you want to accelerate your career within the wind energy field?

You might be the Wind Turbine Senior Load Engineer we are looking for to join our Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group European Innovation Center in Aarhus, Denmark.

The [xxxxx] (part of Shanghai Electric, one of China’s largest leading manufacturing companies), assembles the best engineers in the global wind industry, working closely and effectively together on innovative R&D projects in four main areas of wind turbine technology: Advanced load simulation, rotor blade innovation, digital engineering, and advanced control. Therefore, you have real impact and play a central role in the development of advanced technologies and innovative rotor design methods which will shape the future of wind power technology in China and globally.

Your role & responsibilities
Your role is to drive the development of new wind turbine load simulation capabilities and features, and, as a result, define procedures for guiding new turbine designs in close collaboration with in-house blade design, software and control design teams. You will support our ongoing efforts to research new technologies and validate technical solutions to enhance new onshore and offshore wind turbine platforms. Furthermore, you will document and present your work to both internal and external stakeholders.

Your tasks

  • Assist in the development of techniques and identify new methods for simulation of the aeroelastic wind turbine response.
  • Improve the simulation setup to effectively perform design load calculations according to standards in close collaboration with in-house software team.
  • Define approaches to mitigate the loads on turbine components.
  • Define methods to prepare wind turbine models for aeroelastic calculations.
  • Refine modelling of turbine load and aeroelastic response.
  • Collaborate with the Group Leader of the load team and other innovation teams in the specification and development of new technical procedures/methodologies.

Your profile
You hold an MSc. degree or a Ph.D. in aerospace, structural, or mechanical engineering, combined with 5+ years’ experience within loads and control. You have experience working with development of aeroelastic tools, preferably HAWC2, and knowledge of OpenFast, Bladed, or Flex5. You are also experienced in programming using Python, C++, or similar.

You have strong experience in running wind turbine technology development from a load perspective and possess vast knowledge of technical aspects related to load simulations.

You are ambitious with a high level of drive and energy to create results, and you have a strong focus on the task. You actively seek to creatively challenge and improve processes. You can succeed individually and are very capable of collaborating and interacting with stakeholders and mechanical component design teams (i.e. our HQ in China), hence you possess a broad understanding of the main disciplines within wind turbine operations. We expect you to thrive working in an international, multicultural environment and possess excellent communication skills.

We offer
A unique opportunity to be part of our European Innovation Center, building a center of advanced technologies and rich design in a fast-paced blooming renewable energy sector while working with the best industry specialists in an informal working environment encouraging innovation. We offer favorable terms of employment and provide an inspiring environment and international career opportunities.
