Do you want to lead a team of top-tier specialists in wind turbine load simulation & calculation, driving groundbreaking advancements in renewable energy solutions?

You might be the Group Leader we are looking for to lead the Advanced Load Simulation team in our Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group European Innovation Center (EIC) in Aarhus, Denmark.

The [xxxxx] (part of Shanghai Electric, one of China’s largest leading manufacturing companies), assembles the best engineers in the global wind industry, working closely and effectively together on innovative R&D-projects in four main areas of wind turbine technology: Advanced load simulation, rotor blade innovation, digital engineering and advanced control. Therefore, you have real impact and play a central role in the development of advanced technologies and novel conceptual design which will shape the future of wind power technology in China and globally.

Your role & responsibilities

Your role is to direct the Advanced Load Simulation team, overseeing the conceptualization, development, and execution of wind turbine load simulation including but not limited to aero-hydro-servo-elastic modelling, design load definition, aeroelastic stability, load certification, etc. You will be the key leadership role of Advanced Load Simulation spearheading the development of cutting-edge load solutions, driving research initiatives, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability within the team. In this role you will collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams to align innovation endeavors with business objectives and market requirements. You will be an integral part of the EIC management team contributing to the overall strategic operation of EIC.

Your tasks

  • Craft and maintain an innovation roadmap to guide the implementation of new technologies and concepts.
  • Plan, oversee and develop future projects to fit with overall strategy of EIC.
  • Drive research initiatives to identify emerging trends and cutting-edge technologies in the load field, integrating them into the innovation strategy.
  • Actively stay at the forefront of new knowledge, technology and methods in the field of load calculation and simulation.
  • Cultivate a culture of cooperation and excellence within the team to consistently deliver high quality groundbreaking solutions.
  • Drive accountability within the team, ensuring commitments and project deadlines are met consistently.
  • Mentor and guide team members to foster a dynamic environment of creativity and collaborative achievement.
  • Partake in innovation of load calculation, stability evaluation, dynamic simulation, and structural modelling, aiming for continuous improvement in turbine efficiency and reliability.

Your profile

You hold a Ph.D. or a MSc. degree within in aerospace, mechanical or control engineering, combined with extensive experience (10+ years) in the field of loads or control with a proven track record of innovation and project leadership. You have strong leadership skills with a successful track record of managing and inspiring technical teams and a thorough understanding of market dynamics, technological advancements, and trends in the wind industry. Furthermore, you have in-depth knowledge of wind turbine product development from a load perspective and possess strong experience in technical aspects related to load simulations.

You are ambitious with a strong strategic mindset and the ability to translate vision into actionable plans and drive results. You have solid problem-solving abilities and a passion for driving innovation in renewable energy technologies. You possess exceptional leadership and communication skills to effectively lead a diverse team and collaborate across functions as well as with stakeholders in the HQ in China and external stakeholders. We expect you to thrive in working in an international, multicultural environment and possess excellent communication skills.
