Loads & Control is where the functional concept of the turbine is defined; We work with turbine sizing, control behaviour, power performance, noise footprint, component loads, aero-elastics and stability. From new technology feasibility studies to the delivery and validation of wind turbine prototypes, the Loads & Controls team is involved in every step along the way.
Inside Loads & Control we have a team specifically dedicated to the development of new technologies for the turbines of tomorrow: L&C Technologies.
L&C Technologies is a multicultural team of experienced engineers, with multiple ongoing R&D projects dedicated at bringing down the cost of energy of wind power. It is our main focus to turn ideas into reality. If you work on a project, you can often see it become implemented in series products in less than 2 years' time. In this team we need a new Lead Engineer with strong experience and the ability to drive innovation.

Responsibilities
As a technical Lead Engineer in Wind Turbine Control you will drive innovation from a very conceptual level up to implementation in the platforms (series production). You will have the opportunity to contribute to moving the state-of-the-art of wind turbine design. You will have a strong focus on loads, dynamics, stability and performance of the new conceptual systems we are developing. You will be immediately involved in one of our flagship technology projects, or if you have the right level of experience and mindset, you will lead your own.
Qualifications
If you have the above skills, other areas of interest to supplement can include: Knowledge of rotor dynamics, aerodynamics and/or aero-elastics. Knowledge of dynamic mechanical and/or hydraulic systems. Experience within industrial applications of Model Predictive Control, system identification and machine learning. Experience with Probabilistic design.
Competencies
We expect you to have the motivation, capacity and understanding to grasp how control, aerodynamics and structural dynamics of the turbine interact and define the behaviour of the turbine. You will have the ability to deep-dive into the underlying physics and have the creativity to come up with new and innovative solutions to the challenges we face. Qualifications
- MSc. Or PhD in Control Engineering with a minimum 3 years of experience with wind turbine control algorithms for power optimisation and load mitigation
- Good programming skills with emphasis on quality, readability and maintainability
- Proven experience with wind industry simulation tools
- Experience with Matlab/Simulink
- Proven experience with technology development and innovation
- Hands on experience in leading technology development projects
- Solid language skills in English
