Working with mechanical safety and compliance in a fast-growing biotech company
DSM Glycom in Esbjerg is the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of Human Milk Oligosaccharides (HMO). HMO are complex carbohydrates that exist naturally in mother’s milk, but DSM Glycom succeeded to produce HMO commercially for the first time. DSM Glycom is a dynamic and innovative biotech company who develops and makes scientific and clinic research at their research department in Hørsholm. Glycom became in spring 2020 part of the leading global ingredient group DSM, who deliver solutions and ingredients for food and healthy products all over the world.
The factory in Esbjerg is certified and works to the very highest standards in safety and food safety both with the highest priority. The production is of course subject to the strictest requirements for infant nutrition.
DSM Glycom starts a new project and for a newly created position, we are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to take care of mechanical safety. In close collaboration with local colleagues and peers elsewhere in DSM, you will be the expert in mechanical safety at the factory in Esbjerg through quantitative risk assessments and with reference to the Technical Manager.

Focus areas for the job will be:
- Developing and supervising the application of mechanical safety
- Ensure that the site is up-to date with international, national and cooperate standards and best practices in the industry
- To be able to translate DSM regulations and requirements into useful guidelines for your future colleagues in Esbjerg
- To become on-site expert within the area of mechanical safety and site representative in mechanical safety networks within the DSM organization
- Support colleagues with your knowledge within machinery and process
Qualifications
- At least 5-10 years of experience from a similar position in the process industry
- At least a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, process engineering or similar
- Knowledge of managing, conducting and facilitating PFD and P&ID
- Strong and effective written, verbal and presentation skills in English
