Vattenfall is one of Europe´s largest electricity generators and producers of heat. We operate in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with a road map aiming at achieving climate neutrality by 2050.
We are looking for a Project Manager for Fast Response Plan Projects within our Project Manager team, in our Business Area Wind, a part of the Vattenfall Organization.
The Project Manager for Fast Response Plan Projects works as part of the first line support and takes the lead and manage projects categorized as Fast Response Plan projects of varying complexity and size and ensure a safe delivery within quality, time and budget. Initially the position will also require that you are part of setting up and preparing the organization and processes in order to be ready to launch Fast Response Plan Projects.
A FRP Project is by nature a project with the objective to restore a wind farm back to its full operation after an grid related outage. We minimize risk in a safe way, as fast and efficient as possible.
The scope of work in a FRP Projects will mainly, but not limited to, be focusing on the following parts of the assets in all offshore wind farms in Vattenfall:
• The grid, ie the export cables and inter array cables between turbines and transformer substations.
• Cable joints and cable terminations.
• Transformers and switchgears.
• Other HV equipment that is vital for the production of the complete windfarm.
Key deliverables/activities
Your work will consist of two major parts:
1. Ensure we are prepared and ready. In order to be ready to meet and respond to major breakdowns and total production stops you will:
a. Drive the risk identification of critical technical risks and threats.
b. Propose risk mitigation actions/investments.
c. Secure we can mobilize a FRP project organisation by identify who does what.
d. Secure and prepare the permit process as far ahead as possible.
e. Secure we have the necessary spare parts and framework agreements with the necessary suppliers for a fast mobilization based on business case basis (risk vs lost revenue vs investment).
f. Prepare a general process for how to run FRP projects and continuously work on the improvement of the process and readiness of the organisation.
2. The execution of the Fast Response Project in case of a major breakdown.
a. Mobilize the project organisation and all needed resources for execution of the FRP project based on the predefined process and preparation.
b. Be the point of contact for all major stakeholders during the execution.
c. Lead all work in the project and on the site ensuring execution is done safe, with quality and as fast an possible.
Key responsibilities
As Project Manager for FRP Projects you will have the following key responsibilities:
• Prepare organization and processes for FRP Projects.
• Plan and lead FRP Projects.
• Ensure project delivery is within quality, scope, and budget, always with safety as first priority.
• Be present on site during execution. Not always, but when needed.
• Continuously seek improvements for an increased preparedness and lowering our risk and down time with regards to major break downs.
• Continuously develop and improve the FRP Project process and tools.
• Capture lessons learned and feedback from past projects, carefully select and ensure these are feed back into the organization.
• Develop the preparedness and risk mitigation actions for all our wind farms and technical platforms in line with the O&M Delivery strategy. Be part of the work preparing of fast response plans that could be put in motion in case of an operational failure occurs.
• Actively manage project stakeholders and their expectations.
• Monitor installation works and report progress, risk, risk mitigation and opportunities.
Organization
You and team members from Operational Support, Engineering and other departments and the site will form the team for the different projects.
Qualifications
You must have experience in risk management and preferably technical knowledge from large scale production assets and HV assets.
You must have offshore experience, preferably from the wind industry.
You must have experience in leading large project teams with a mix of internal and external resources.
You must have the seniority and be comfortable driving the project and be leading the team in a stressed and pressed situation keeping a calm and steady direction of the work.
You must be good at structuring work tasks and roles into processes.
Your command in English is strong, both verbally and written.
You must be ready during project execution to be travelling and be “on the field” for some weeks, especially during startup of the project work at the site.
Our best candidate has a relevant University degree or equal, with a minimum of five years relevant work experience in a similar position preferable with a technical background with a qualification in electrical and/or mechanical discipline. Experienced in technical and operation and maintenance is a must as well as experience from leading projects in large international organizations.
As a person you are structured, independent, and result oriented. You have superior interpersonal skills and are a natural leader. We are looking for a person who has the ability to simplify complexity yet is flexible enough to find the best ways forward.
