The Vattenfall Business Area Wind runs all offshore wind, onshore wind and solar/battery projects (development, construction and execution) and manages as well as operates these assets in our core markets. In addition, the BA is responsible for identifying profitable growth options and new business models for other renewable energy sources and developing solutions for system integration. The combination of rapid growth and a highly competitive market environment requires best in class project management and a culture of continuous learning.

Business Governance is responsible for the project decision making framework, project steering and assurance according to Vattenfall’s Sequential and Agile project models. We are looking for the right person to join the team as Project Governance Advisor.

As a person you are an open-minded professional with the ability to collaborate and inspire people at different levels of the organisation. You are able to find the right balance between challenging and supporting the business and you have a good intercultural understanding.

You will report to the Director of Business Governance which is part of the Portfolio and Business Development Business Unit.

Main tasks & responsibilities

  • Provide insight and independent advice to senior management on project status, risks and issues to drive Portfolio and Project decisions and strategic alignment with goals.
  • Provide oversight and challenge of project value performance (deliverables, risk, cost, schedule)
  • Provide expert advice to project managers on assurance requirements
  • Establish and improve processes and guidelines to provide robust and fit for purpose project governance and assurance.
  • Manage the Toll Gate Planning process for Business Area Wind Offshore projects and liaise with relevant stakeholders
  • Manage and prepare “Project Review Board“ meetings
  • Support in the provision of value assurance reviews at major milestones/toll gates
  • Provide and develop project governance and assurance trainings

About You

Our ideal candidate will have the following skill and experience:

  • Masters level Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or similar
  • 3 or more years of project management experience in a technical setting, preferably in the offshore wind sector.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar project governance, project assurance or risk management type role.
  • Strong business acumen
  • Successful track record in developing, implementing, and improving processes to support project steering and governance.
  • Can demonstrate ability to perform in a large and complex international organization with many interfaces.
  • Visible and self-managing and able to work effectively as part of a virtual team
  • A team player able to focus on both people and business in a challenging environment.
  • A strong communicator with excellent command of English both verbally and written
  • Knowledge of Agile methods an advantage
