RHI Magnesita is the global leader and driving force in the refractory business – they develop, produce, sell and install heat-resistant materials and products for high temperature production. RHI Magnesita has 35 production plants – 5 of them in connection with a mining pit and 10 stand-alone mining pits globally. Support global automation projects

You become part of the global RHI Magnesita Automation team consisting of 6 people in total based in Austria, Germany, China and Brazil. The purpose of the team is to support the implementation of state-of-the-art industrial automation technology like robotics and AGV to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Your projects will primarily be at some of the major plants in Europe but could also be in other parts of the world. Your daily tasks and responsibilities are to:

• Provide standards / guidelines as to what technology to implement and support the execution
• Provide new ideas, solutions or technology for the RHI Magnesita global production environment
• Understand the production sites pain points and find solutions to solve this
• Be the technical expert to support on local automation technology projects:
  • Be the technical go-to person and handle internal and external technical discussions
  • Support plant on concept engineering, basic engineering
  • Tender creation and negotiations with vendors
  • Monitoring project progress, analysis and resolve technical issues
  
  

You report to the Global Head of Automation based in China. The role can ideally be based at one of the RHI Magnesita plants in Germany or Austria – alternatively in Vienna, Austria or Wiesbaden, Germany. You should expect 50%+ travel to production plants primarily in Europe but also in Americas and Asia. For the right profile there are great career development opportunities in RHI Magnesita.

Experienced Senior Automation Engineer

You probably have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Production or similar. You have several years’ experience working with robotics and AGV projects with tasks like PLC hardware, software programming and site commissioning either for a supplier of automation technology, a system integration supplier or a major industrial production company. You possess strong knowledge of PLC systems from high end suppliers like Siemens, AB or ABB. If you have a project management certification like PMP or similar it is an advantage but not a requirement.

Further the right candidate has the following personal traits and skills:

• Fluency in English and German
• With your technical automation skills, you are able to provide deep understanding and knowledge of automation into RHI Magnesita
• With you great communication skills and empathy you engage with stakeholders at all levels of the organization in a fast paced and challenging environment to reach common goals
• With your structured, organized and analytical approach you are able to handle complex projects in a global production environment
