You’ll lead a team focused on building the simulation tools for optimising our capacity across services, real-time availability checks and allocation/reservation systems for containers (laden & empty) traveling across every trade route.Maersk is achieving an unprecedented transformation in the growth of our business, rethinking the way we engage with customers and partners, and how the world’s trade flows across our global network. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of the Director of Capacity Management Platform

You’ll build a team focused on the design, optimisation and execution capabilities to create and manage our capacity around the world from simulation to exception handling. This is an important role that can truly make an impact across the entire company.

Expect to:

Work closely with business and product stakeholders to develop a strategic roadmap and with your engineers to execute the tactical activities to deliver it.

Provide technical expertise and an engineering mindset for achieving business outcomes. Foster an environment of curiosity and technical excellence.

Hire and develop high quality engineers while strengthening morale and cohesion across the teams

Use data to drive decisions and measure results

As a director, you will demonstrate the following characteristics:

You have extensive practical experience gained from working as an engineer, leading development lifecycle processes.

• You are creative and come up with innovative approaches to projects and any issues that arise.
• You are a problem solver and get things done.
• You are able to understand strategic thinking and how to apply it to the work you are doing.
• You have a proven track record of leadership and communication skills which are crucial in your work.
• You are passionate about user journeys, user experience and customer-centricity.
• You can share expertise and insight with other engineers.
• You are able to motivate staff and foster collaboration across organisational boundaries.

The ideal candidate has experience as a developer and understands how to build technology that lasts. They would have extensive experience in delivering high quality software using iterative development methodology. They deeply understand the lifecycle of code delivery from ideation and design, implementation thru to operations. These tools sets include, but are not limited to;

Cloud native applications built on distributed systems foundations

Culture of devops and building it right (NFRs, scalability and resiliency)

Backend (Java, .NET, Golang) and datastore technologies: SQL, NOSQL, graph, Filestore and how to choose the right technology.

Domain driven design experience and understand how to create composable microservices and APIs or graphQL models, Solid understanding of orchestration, workflow and business logic.

Event Driven Architecture and Event Sourcing (Kafka)
