About the role

We are seeking a proven M&A practitioner to support deal projects (acquisitions and divestitures) for Maersk’s Business Platform organization. This role will focus on integration planning (pre and post-Close) and post-Close execution within the M&A deal lifecycle, leading Platform M&A workstreams within our cross-functional M&A model. This role will be partnering closely with the corporate development team and other M&A functions to validate deal rationales and targets, define and operationalize integration plans, and oversee post-Close integration. This position will report to our Sr Director of Platform M&A, and may eventually build and manage a team of their own.

They will bring a blend of technical and non-technical understanding, creative problem-solving abilities, and robust experience to lead project teams and advise senior stakeholders through complex large-scale initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead integration-focused activities and workstreams for M&A projects, representing the Platform M&A function, partnering with Corporate Development and other M&A workstreams

  • Coordinate with Maersk Business and Tech Platform teams to inform integration strategy, and to mobilize integration execution within the Platform organization

  • Partner with Platform M&A lead on a per deal basis, to engage pre-Close integration planning during confirmatory diligence. May be assigned to take the lead managing overall post-Close integration, or for key integration workstreams within larger deals

  • Leads operationalizing (post-Close buildout) of integration plans initially defined prior to acquisition Close, working with cross-functional integration leads to define implement, and track deliverables

  • As a Platform M&A Program Manager, coordinate post-Close execution of integration plans. Determine risks, mitigation plans, and optimal execution path for post-Close integration -- setting priorities, removing barriers, helping teams' problem-solve, and surfacing decisions-needed to leadership stakeholders

  • Identify the need for, drive scoping and design of, and coordinate implementation of, cross-functional “bridging solutions” that solve for acquired-company operational needs during interim integration phases prior to full integration into Maersk.

  • Support the complex set of communication channels associated with M&A deal projects, across a range of stakeholder functions and seniority (e.g. technical and business platform workstreams, cross-functional deal teams, and deal Steercos) . Manage report-out deliverables for stakeholders including Maersk leadership to ensure integration plans are communicated appropriately at key milestones

  • Lead or support Platform integration cadences and workshops depending on Platform M&A coverage model and deal pipeline volume. Provides project management and analyst level support, as needed, for larger complex deals (e.g. reconciling diligence checklists or integration scenario analysis, preparing for onboarding or integration workshops, etc)

  • Contribute domain expertise in M&A integration, toward the definition and establishment of a framework for repeatable success for the M&A lifecycle. Supports maintenance of Platform M&A process materials (templates, guides, team site), Platform M&A Playbook updates, and supports Platform M&A participation in Maersk M&A process initiatives.

  • May provide supplemental supports for coordinating internal Platform M&A events, including cross-functional initiatives


Key Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of experience in buy-side M&A, having led cross-functional project teams to execute pre-Close and post-Close integration planning, and post-Close integration execution within large globally distributed organizations.

  • Experience working within a large-enterprise serial acquirer preferred, and ideally within Product or Technology focused M&A functions. Experience within Corporate Development or Corporate Strategy roles is helpful, but not required and doesn’t necessarily equate to the skill set targeted for this role.

  • Previous experience (in roles prior to or within M&A field) as technical program manager or product manager strongly preferred.

  • Bachelors Degree required, post-graduate degree preferred (degree focus may vary)

  • Experience in logistics industry space ideal but not required.
