As Senior Specialist in the Materials & Processes Engineering department (M&P), you will be the technology owner of the composite manufacturing processes and materials. In this role, you will encounter a high variation in your daily operations and will take part in setting the direction and objectives for your area of expertise. You ensure process and material compliance, quality, and optimization while working closely with a broad range of stakeholders. Success in this role will require excellent stakeholder management skills.

Job Description:

You will be part of a dedicated small team of highly-skilled Specialists and Senior Specialists, currently numbering 8 (including you). The team is diverse in terms of gender, nationality, age, and educational background. While each team member has a designated area of responsibility, we support each other and work with the mentality that all tasks are also the responsibility of the team. M&P has a wide contact area within the organization, meaning that we are always quite busy with a broad range of tasks. However, we nurture and protect a culture that is respectful of personal life, e.g. working flexible hours ensuring a good work/life balance. This includes the possibility of working from home some days a week.

As the composite-process owner, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the majority of our composite-related processes, including ply-cutting and lay-up of composite prepreg material, vacuum debulking, adhesive bonding of honeycomb core and composite skin details, vacuum/pressure-assisted autoclave curing, mechanical assembly, mechanical materials testing, electrical bonding, and verification. Your key objectives will be to ensure that all processes comply with customer requirements and are optimized in terms of efficiency, cost, and technology.

Your day-to-day tasks will alternate between spending time on the production floor, where you will oversee, discuss, or engage in production processes with our skilled production personnel, and spending time at your desk or at home e.g., interpreting specification requirements, updating instructions, writing reports, elaborating on test plans and results, studying new technology and handling data. You will also occasionally spend time working hands-on with testing and investigation at our Technology Centre.

In addition to your daily operations, we expect you to demonstrate strong initiative and take charge of your role as a technology lighthouse. As a Senior Specialist, your technological expertise should have a significant impact on our future production operations.

How to succeed in this position?

As an ideal candidate for this position, you should possess a technical background and at least several years of experience in process and/or material engineering, specifically related to composites and composite manufacturing. We seek someone who is highly solution-oriented, and analytical, and values the significance of production compliance with both customer requirements and industry standards. You should have the ability to navigate in a complex organization with integrity. Additionally, you should be proficient in writing clear and concise technical instructions, as well as communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Your professional background and experience may include:

• Technical education in engineering or science (e.g., process engineering, materials engineering/science, materials physics)
• Process engineering knowledge
• Understanding of material properties and -behavior under extreme conditions
• Production or R&D experience in composite manufacturing
• Compliance and requirements management experience
