The Offshore Technical Sales & Siting Solutions department is the offshore-focused arm of our global product strategy & technical sales organisation, providing the link between our sales business unit and our customer needs towards the central power solutions team, responsible for global product development in Vestas.

The (Lead) Siting Solutions Engineer role within Offshore Technical Sales & Siting Solutions is responsible for turbine siting and optimisation, representing Vestas in customer project negotiations, with third party advisors or at relevant industry conferences/workshops. You will be accountable for providing fully optimised and risk-assessed wind power plant layouts and turbine configurations, investigating and applying the full toolkit of siting solutions and optimisations in developing a technical proposal.

You will work within the Technical Sales & Siting Solutions team, with our commercial Sales group, as well as central engineering functions, to deliver the best possible siting solutions to sales projects and customers, targeting exponential growth in the offshore wind segment.

Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities as a (Lead) Siting Solutions Engineer will be to act as a market-facing technical customer advisor ensuring supply of fully optimised wind power plant layouts and wind turbine configurations on sales projects. After an intensive induction, you will be assigned to Vestas' siting activities for Offshore projects. Furthermore, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop project specific siting technical solutions to maximize project value while managing risks
  • Defend Vestas siting results, supporting customers with third-party discussions and building a case for bankability of Vestas turbines
  • Enable efficient interfaces between Sales, Technical Sales, Customers, Independent Engineers, and Central Technical Functions
  • Utilize knowledge of Vestas turbines and regional wind conditions to provide expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify market requirements and trends to promote product, tool, and process development
  • Develop tools and collaborate on projects utilizing siting data to create value
  • In addition to solid technical, quantitative and analytical skills, you´ll need to have impeccable customer focus, and have the ability to build and handle relationships with customers and their consultants.

Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably within Mechanical or Renewables Engineering, or a related certification in the mechanical/renewable/technical field and first wind energy experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience, 5-7 years of experience within the wind energy industry is highly desired
  • Knowledge and skill in working with common software applications
  • Fluency in business English required; additional Scandinavian or European languages, both spoken and written, would be beneficial

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills combined with good customer focus, as well as prior experience interacting with different internal and external stakeholders, including customers, consultants and cross-functional teams
  • Solid investigative and methodical skills
  • Professional presentation skills with ability to present to senior management
  • A flexible approach, organised and collaborative with proven experience working in an innovative and high-pressure tendering environment
  • Results-oriented, with the ability to be innovative and creative in building a technical value proposition and seeking out value optimisation opportunities
  • High level of customer focus, with a holistic understanding of how technical solutions impact a business case commercially and contractually

Additional information
You will report to the Head of Technical Sales & Siting Solutions, Offshore.
Your work location could be in Aarhus N (DK), Hamburg (DE), Edinburgh (UK) or London (UK). Some travel activity is to be expected for up to 25% of your time.
