About the role | Build internal tools and frameworks and help us create value out of data
Tryg has a long tradition of working with data in order to understand risks. We are now taking this experience to the next level and expanding our activities to many different customer-centric initiatives. As data from the customer touchpoints are scattered in a series of different systems, we are building a data platform to obtain easy, purpose-driven, and secure access to data.
In your role as our new Software Engineer, you will work with a highly skilled team on building internal tools and frameworks to help our users work efficiently with data. These components will be part of our data platform and are often built from a combination of custom design and open-source technology. Automation, scalability, and managed tech debt are three keywords in our build philosophy.
Our tech stack currently consists of:
The team functions as a highly autonomous team, supported by a technical management group that understands the difference between a hack and a well-engineered solution (although we do not undervalue the role of pragmatic solutions).
Location | Where is the role placed geographically?
As Software Engineer, you will be placed in either Ballerup (Denmark) or Bergen (Norway), depending on your country of residence. Some travel is to be expected.

- Java and python as secondary languages

As Software Engineer, you will be placed in either Ballerup (Denmark) or Bergen (Norway), depending on your country of residence. Some travel is to be expected.
About you | Put your passion for Computer Science into play
To succeed in the role we imagine that you have:
- A background in computer science (BSc in Computer Science or a similar field although a Master would be preferred)
- Experience applying Computer Science theory in practice
- Experience with system design and implementation
- Familiarity with performance optimizations in general software - time/space complexity, data structures, and parallelization techniques
- You communicate clearly in English, and preferably also in a Scandinavian language, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge and experience with the following topics are desirable but not required:
- Distributed systems
- Stream processing (ex Kafka/Flink)
- Kubernetes and containerization
- Databases, relational or NoSQL
