Biocompatibility Department
At BK Medical we develop advanced ultrasound systems that help doctors visualize,
guide, and navigate in the body during surgical procedures. This requires that we
develop and deliver ultrasound equipment which can be cleaned, disinfected, and
sterilized before and after each use– repeatedly.
R&D Reprocessing and Biocompatibility is part of the R&D organization and is
located in Herlev, Denmark. The department consists of 5 dedicated colleagues with
expertise in reprocessing and biocompatibility– and we are growing.
We are responsible for performing the biological evaluation for products in patient
contact as well as for testing, validating and documenting methods for cleaning,
disinfection, and sterilization to ensure that a range of efficient methods are available
and compatible with for our products.
We are part of a dynamic, international, and innovative environment, where highly
skilled professionals work closely together to develop next generation of ultrasound
equipment – which shall be compatible with modern methods for cleaning,
disinfection and sterilization.
We cooperate with external partners and test laboratories for testing and validation
of new methods and provide the documentation to ensure registration and approval
of the products world-wide.
We work closely with our national and global key stakeholders in R&D, RA, QA,

The requirements and need for efficient disinfection and sterilization methods for
