Are you an ambitious subject matter expert within class III medical devices and ideally have experience with stem cells? Would you like to join the Novo Nordisk team responsible for development of class III devices and to bring your experience and knowledge to the table? If yes, this role may be for you.

The position

As System Engineer you will join our team responsible for development of class III medical devices for cell therapy. You will be responsible for concept development, product development and coordination of tasks or projects with focus on:

  • Driving the concept and development process,
  • Specification, design, test planning and tests of function models and prototypes – device alone and device with cells,
  • Participating in robustness target setting, and robustness/tolerance analysis,
  • Defining performance characteristics, specifications,
  • Material selection, design of products, test setups and production maturing activities DFM/DFA,
  • Participating in robust design activities,
  • Planning and following-up activities with subcontractors, consultants and industrial designers,
  • External development co-operations and complex task coordination,
  • Securing Novo Nordisk IP rights within all the above-mentioned areas,
  • Defining project boundaries and project organisation setup inclusive project risk grid, project planning, coordination and follow-up ,
  • Driving device development from design input to launch,
  • Ensure project stakeholder alignment and supplier coordination,
  • Ensure project documentation and documentation quality.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you need to have:

  • PhD with 4-5 years of relevant experience, M.Sc. with 5-7 years of relevant experience or B.Sc. with minimum 10 years relevant experience,
  • Experience in development of Class III medical devices,
  • 3D modelling tools,
  • Strong knowledge within a specific process, methods or technology.

Additionally, skills within several of the following fields are expected:

  • Polymers or material science,
  • Mechanical Design of devices and/or disposable/durable plastic parts,
  • Concept development and ideation,
  • Development of processes, components and analysis methods,
  • Planning and follow up with suppliers of materials, components, and services,
  • Project coordination,
  • Demonstrated impact of competences and knowledge deployed critical execution of core processes in the broader area,
  • Presentations and professional communication,
  • Stakeholder management.

As a person, you are flexible and adaptable as the tasks are multiple, variable and the priority of projects may change and may range from specialist oriented to a more general character. You are ready to adjust your schedule leading to overtime when met with periods of increased workload. You are fluent in written & spoken English.

About the department

The department of Stem Cell R&D Devices is a newly established unit within the Stem Cell R&D area. The unit consists of device project managers and key specialist areas such as system engineering, risk engineering and biomedical engineering needed to progress devices to clinic and later to the market. The unit is located within the broader stem cell area and works closely together with other research and clinical competency areas. Also, the unit collaborates with multiple external partners and each team member expected to engage with both internal and external stakeholders.
