Do you want to drive the development and selection of new primary packaging solutions for our next generation parenteral or oral drug products? Are you interested in contributing to the development of sustainable materials that support the world's circular economy? Are you ready to develop primary packaging systems, scalable for the future in an international department? Then you might be the new primary packaging developer we are looking for. The position As Primary Packaging developer, you will have the main responsibility of driving the development of suitable primary packaging solutions to fit Novo Nordisk medical drug projects. We are looking for a developer and your responsibility will be:
  • Development of primary packaging systems, such as foils for blister packaging or syringes/vials from ideation phase to drug product launch.
  • Documenting the design requirements, safety risk management and mitigations, testing and documentation of these; enabling us to submit Clinical Trial Applications.
  • Ensuring suitable design, material, technical performance, processability and new supply chains of the packaging systems.
  • You will scout the market and meet with suppliers to identify and refine packaging solutions.
  • Coordinate own workstream with stakeholders and deliver on time.
  • You will work closely with colleagues in both Drug and Device Development, Production and Supply Chain to assent to the requirements. In general, the tasks carried out by the department are diverse as we deliver to all parts of Novo Nordisk. This gives a variety of challenges. Therefore, strong collaboration with your colleagues is an essential key to success. Qualifications To succeed in this role, we expect you to have:
  • MSc/BSc degree in Engineering or another relevant field within the Natural Sciences
  • At least 2 years of experience within primary packaging for pharmaceutical products or medical devices
  • A few years of experience or you are very skilled/experienced to a specialist level
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • It would be considered an advantage if you can add some of the following experiences:
  • Knowledge about chemical/physical drug stability with special focus on material/drug interaction
  • Knowledge about Container Closure Systems for pharmaceutical use
  • Knowledge about foils for blister packaging for tablets and design of the blister layout
  • Knowledge of sterilization processes of components for aseptic production
  • Supplier negotiation and development of strategic partnership

About the department You will join the Primary Packaging Development team situated in Devices and Delivery Solutions, a business unit within the global Development organisation and located in Hillerød in the greater Copenhagen area with state-of-the-art R&D facilities. Devices and Delivery Solutions has the mandate and responsibility to innovate and develop the most innovative delivery solutions for the entire portfolio of Novo Nordisk’s pharmaceutical products. The unit is comprised of project management, engineering, and technical functions spanning across all competences required to deliver on a diverse portfolio of drug/combination product and device projects. You will be part of an organisation of highly skilled people – maybe the best in the industry.     You will join a new, growing, and dynamic department consisting of two teams. You will join a team of 10 highly skilled and ambitious developers working closely with our specialists and project managers, all of whom works dedicated with developing and implementing primary packaging solutions in Novo Nordisk. Our department is characterised by an international environment with colleagues having a background from all over the world, like Iran, India, Spain, Morocco, France, Hungary, Sweden, Poland, and Denmark.
