Climate action is a strategic imperative for Maersk, and we are stepping up our efforts to reduce the climate impact of our logistics services. Early in 2022, we announced our company target to be net zero across all emission scopes in 2040. We know this is challenging, but we believe in it.
The Maersk Decarbonisation team works to focus, steer and enable our decarbonisation journey. Our team members come from different backgrounds, have different expertise but share the same passion to transform the company and industry. The Decarbonisation Sustainability team works with enabling the sourcing of sustainable fuels and energy to decarbonise supply chains end-to-end, and we support the development of new sustainable transportation fuels such as methanol for our future fleet of container vessels. We assess the environmental impact and carry out lifecycle assessment and sustainability assessments of feedstocks, processes and fuels.
What will your role be?
Your primary work tasks will be centred around sustainability analysis and life cycle assessment of future fuels like the green methanol and you will be working with developing Maersk sustainability policies for fuels and energy such as biofuels for our ships, diesel for our trucks and sustainable aviation fuels in close collaboration with other Maersk teams.
You have a background in environmental engineering or similar and bring insights into bioenergy, biofuels, feedstock assessment and certification. Ideally, you have profound experience in environmental sustainability and standardised lifecycle assessment (ISO 14040-44), greenhouse gas accounting as well as insights into relevant regulatory frameworks, fuel standards and certification schemes such as EU-RED, US LCFS, CORSIA, ISCC and RSB. You have previously worked with biological systems and are well versed in sustainable agriculture and forestry (and their certification schemes), biodiversity and ecosystems impacts, and their evaluation.
We work as a new but already very dynamic and positive-spirited team, we share information and challenges and help each other out. Sometimes, there are a lot of moving parts and high uncertainty and most days, we work with both internal and a wide range of external partners. It is important that you thrive with cross-disciplinary and cross-functional teamwork and are good at collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management. You will need drive and initiative and we’re hoping you will bring along curiosity, honesty, an open mind, and a good sense of humor.
