Student position in the DFDS Platform team
This position is for our platform team “Cloud Engineering”. The purpose of the team is to spread best practices on software development and making it easier, faster and safer for all of DFDS’ developers to use Cloud features.
We see the platform as the tool that lessens the load for everybody else.
DFDS has a cloud first policy, and we are increasingly deploying Kubernetes and Cloud Native Foundation eco-system projects as our tooling of choice.
We are embarking on a journey to cloud-enable our existing IT infrastructure, in a push to “left shift” responsibilities onto the respective development teams.
Developers in the platform group works alongside our expert Site Reliability Engineers. Some of the typical tasks they are is building value-adding features into the core platform, design and run educational workshops and co-create new platform features alongside other teams in DFDS.
We have a variety of roles in the team and there is some flexibility depending on your interests.

We imagine that you are a student at an engineering, IT, or computer science degree. As a student assistant, we expect you to be technical savy and like to code. You will not be asked to know everything upfront, but you do need to be curious and willing to lift your share. We are used to onboarding people into the group and most still like us afterwards. Being lazy-but-structured is good here. When doing something menial like adding users to groups, you should be thinking “how can I automate this, so I won’t have to do it again”.
The corporate language is English, so Danish is not a hard requirement.

- Our Site Reliability Engineers work with automating processes using Golang and Python. They are Kubernetes experts and use git and FluxCD for deployment
- Our developers use C#, Golang and Python to develop microservice components for the platform
- We also have a React frontend that is somewhat starved for attention
Some of our technical tooling includes but is not limited to
- C# .Net, Golang, Python, PowerShell Core for software and scripts
- AWS and GCP
- 60% Linux, 40% Windows
- Docker, Containers and Kubernetes
- Git, FluxCD, Crossplane, Azure Devops and other software deployment technologies
- Relational databases, structured logging, REST APIs, and Apache Kafka
