Niels Bohr Institute at Faculty of Science, the University of Copenhagen is looking for a Data Platform Architect.
About us
The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. The long-term mission of the programme is to develop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.
NQCP together with Quantum Foundry Copenhagen (QF), company founded by Novo Nordisk Foundation with the focus enabling QPU fabrication in the programme, established Data Team. Data Team designed and launched common NQCP-QF data platform for the programme, which is all-in-one cloud analytics solution within Microsoft Fabric, enhanced by relevant Azure and other Microsoft services. It is still early days for the platform; not all source systems are mature enough for integration yet and require attention, presenting an ambitious and exciting roadmap ahead.

Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, processes, and standards

Joining NQCP now, you will be involved from the very beginning and contribute to the fulfilment of the mission of NQCP.
You will become a member of a competent and ambitious Data Team, central to the program and crucial in attaining data-driven research objectives through the effective use of data platform architecture. At present, the Data Team comprises two members (one in NQCP and one in QF), and there is a goal to expand the team to four members in total by the conclusion of 2024.
You will report to COO Jan Thomsen in close coordination with Head of Data Juste Stumbryte, Quantum Foundry.
Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
Employment will be as special consultant or academic employee. The salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible.
The position is limited until 31 December 2029 and appointment will be subject to receipt of a security clearance.

Key responsibilities:
- Further develop and design newly established data platform hosted in Microsoft Fabric and Azure services
- Enforce Tier security structure in all data solutions across the organisation
- Uphold data storage and sharing policies across the programme
- Run projects to make sure that data sources for the data platform are structured and mature for integration, this includes coordination with UCPH-IT
- Develop new integration from various sources, ensuring data consistency and accuracy
- Build analytics and reporting on top on the data platform with robust data models, ensuring alignment with different teams requirements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and meet data requirements
- Take ownership of implementing and achieving the NQCP data roadmap and its deliverable
- Closely work with Data Ambassadors in making sure that NQCP has a good data for analysis
- Focus on the detail and meet deadlines
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, processes, and standards
We expect:
- At least 3 years 'hands on’ experience in developing data platforms or data warehouse solutions, preferably in Microsoft Azure
- Experience in project management, with a track record of successful project delivery
- Strong proficiency in data modelling
- Experience with data integration, ETL processes, and data governance
- In-depth knowledge of data security principles and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in SQL and Python
- Having experience in Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines is considered a significant asset.
