Job description of the function
The MEP site engineer directs and oversees the electrical and mechanical installations at the construction site, resolves technical queries and ensures that the work is completed according to technical specifications and quality standards, as well as per the contract time schedule.
The following are some of the primary objectives of this role:
· Supervise the subcontractor(s) executing the electrical woks, ensuring that the works are carried out in line with the project’s technical requirements.
· Maintain compliance with OHS and regulatory standards.
· Checking plans, quantities and drawings to ensure accuracy.
· Maintain detailed documentation of all site engineering activities.
· Attend site meetings with the client, subcontractor(s) and the project team and compile respective meeting reports.
· Acting as main point of call for technical advice.
· Liaising with clients and representatives which will include surveyors, Architects and Designers
Educational Background:
· A degree in electrical and/or mechanical engineering or equivalent
Work experience (number of years):
· Minimum 5 years of experience as an MEP site engineer in construction of infrastructure projects
Competencies:
· Good Knowledge of relevant legislations, standards, regulations, guides and good practice
· Technical knowledge of construction processes
· High attention to detail
· Strong analytical skills
· Excellent team worker
· Strong communications and interpersonal skills
· Actively demonstrate initiative and being able to work independently under pressure to meet deadlines efficiently
· Excellent command of spoken and written English
· Computer literate and experienced in Microsoft applications
