Who are we?
Humanitarian Disarmament & Peacebuilding (HDP) is one of DRC’s five core sectors, specialising in Humanitarian Mine Action and Peacebuilding.
HDP’s work is guided by the Safer Communities approach, working to strengthen community resilience and build local capacities to reduce and remove weapons-related risks, and factors that may result in the use of weapons. HDP strives to achieve this through Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) activities, focusing on landmines and explosive remnants of war (ERW), as well as Peacebuilding programmes. Peacebuilding activities build on communities’ own visions, abilities, capacities and resources for improved security and safety. This is done through conflict sensitive, participatory and inclusive processes addressing conflict, security and safety at community level. HDP’s work is vital in helping refugees, internally displaced people and other communities return to their homes when the conflict has ended, allowing them to make use of the land they were forced to leave behind and facilitating development.
About the internship
The HDP intern will have tasks related to supporting information management as well as general support to the country programmes. The intern will be given the possibility to work independently with different tasks that are related to their area of study and will be given a thorough introduction to the working relations at the headquarters of an organisation that implements HMA and Peacebuilding in more than 20 countries.
Key tasks:
- Support the collection of information required for various work processes ranging from grants management to proposal writing procedures.
- Manage and analyse the monthly outputs from country programmes and present and distribute the data overview.
- Act as a point of contact for ad hoc queries and requests for administrative support coming from the field and/or HQ.
- Collect data to produce e.g. fact sheets and infographics.
- Maintain and update the organisation’s file storage systems, i.e. collect, store and disseminate a set of documents (reports, reviews, etc.) in a periodic and systematic manner.
- Help organise meetings and appointments as well as produce and distribute minutes of meetings.
- Support in the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) processes in terms of making output indicators available and handling data collection.
- Assist with preparation, formatting and proofreading of documents related to project proposals.
We offer flexibility in the type of tasks, so you also have the possibility to influence the tasks, subject to what is relevant for your study programme.
About you
