The position is based in Copenhagen at the headquarter of Abacus Medicine, which is located at Kalvebod Brygge.

Lead Business Development and Shape the Future of the Swedish Market


As the Commercial Lead for Sweden, you will play a crucial role in the business development team. You will lead a team of three full time employees and four student assistants, and you will report directly to the Sales Director for the Nordics. Your responsibilities will encompass various aspects of the Swedish market, and you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact. Specifically, you will:

  • Develop, implement, and execute Abacus Medicine’ Go-to-Market strategy for PI-Commercial sales in Sweden.
  • Take ownership of managing inventory, trading risk, pricing, and portfolio management for Abacus Medicine’ Swedish product portfolio.
  • Take charge of budgeting, financial performance, and optimization related to market activities.
  • Actively engage with and cultivate strong relationships with Abacus Medicine’ Swedish pharmacy clients.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage Abacus Medicine’ Swedish business development team, fostering a cooperative and productive environment.
  • Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including political, regulatory, and commercial entities in Sweden.

Additionally, we anticipate that you hold a relevant master’s degree in economics, Finance, and/or Accounting. Proficiency in a Scandinavian language (Danish, Swedish, Norwegian) as a native speaker is a requirement, along with full working proficiency in Swedish. Furthermore, having comprehensive written and verbal communication skills in English is essential.

Abacus Medicine was founded on the basis of a growing call for competition in the Danish pharmaceutical market to the benefit of Danish hospitals. To answer this call, Flemming and John Wagner founded Abacus Medicine with the purpose of carrying out parallel import and parallel distribution of original medicine within the EU.

Not long after it was founded, Abacus Medicine entered the Danish pharmaceutical market. Following this successful entrance, the company expanded its reach to Germany and Sweden. Since then, Abacus Medicine has pursued a vigorous and highly successful multi-market strategy, and the parallel import services are now available in 12 European markets with more to come.

Apart from Abacus many active sales markets, the company also has sales offices in 6 European countries: Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Spain and United Kingdom. The office in Copenhagen, Denmark functions as the headquarter for both the Group and Abacus Medicine.
