Functional Safety Engineer to ensure tomorrows green energy solution


Are you passionate about product functional safety, and do you have competencies and experience from HAZOP/HAZID Workshops and risk assessment? Do you want to contribute to the development of green hydrogen technology? Do you thrive in a position where you facilitate, document and follow-up on RISK HAZOP, HAZID & LOPA Workshops? Then we are looking for you as our new Functional Safety Engineer.


Green Hydrogen Systems is ready to take on a position as one of the world’s leaders in developing and producing electrolysis plants that use electricity from renewable energy and water to produce green hydrogen.

We are on an exciting journey and currently developing our second generation of electrolysers called the x-series. We need you to facilitate the process of examining our development project and products and ensure that we reach the functional safety and documentation requirements set for our products.

We are looking for a Functional Safety Engineer, who in a structured and systematic manner performs Hazard and operability analysis (HAZOP) on our product lines and follow up on specific actions on the identified risks, together with the participating Research and Development (R&D) department.

You facilitate a risk mindset to our R&D projects and products and make risk reviews. Further, you always follow the processes to the end by documenting and coordinating actions to handle risks in the product development process together with the product and project development teams.

Do you enjoy facilitating risk assessment processes?
In your new position, you will join an established Compliance and safety team, that ensures compliant and safe products, end to end.
You will in this role, facilitate workshops, such as HAZOP and HAZID to identify potential hazards and ensure that adequate counter measures are implemented and documented. Thus, some of your tasks will be to:

  • Scope and perform risk assessments of our products
  • Select and invite participants to facilitate the most optimal risk assessment workshops
  • Be the technical wizard when it comes to HAZOP techniques and assessment methods
  • Know the entire risk assessment process, current documentation and the natural order of what comes next.
  • Ensure documentation of every risk related to the design of our electrolysers.


Who could be our Functional Safety Engineer?
We expect you to have at least 10 years of experience with risk assessment/management within HAZOP, HAZID, QRA, PHA & FMEA. Furthermore, knowledge of ISO standards regarding hydrogen, pressure equipment, ATEX, electrical and machine directives is needed in this role. You are probably familiar with CE documentation requirements as well. If you have experience within the hydrogen and gas industry, it is considered an advantage. You probably hold a master's degree within electronics, mechanics, chemistry, bachelor's in Technology Management and Marine Engineering or a similar educational background.

Personally, you can manoeuvre in a very dynamic and changeable environment and are easy to cooperate with. You are structured, responsible and detail oriented. That is probably also the reason why you work with product functional safety, compliance and risk assessment. It is natural for you to be in front and take initiative and be proactive in you evaluation and follow up procedures, after the HAZOP workshops. You must master Danish and English at a professional level.
