R&D Engineer – Expert in Nanooptics and Photonics

As DECPT’s expert in Nanooptics and Photonics, you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of our Camofoil technology. Your specialized knowledge will drive our mission to provide an innovative multispectral camouflaging solution to The National Defences and organizations worldwide.

DECPT ApS is a start-up dedicated to developing a cutting-edge camouflaging technology that improves the safety of our armed forces and those fighting on our behalf. Camofoil, is a revolutionary, truly adaptable, and cost-effective camouflage solution that effectively reduces the heat signature of armoured vehicles and beyond. It is a low-cost, disposable, nanostructured plastic foil with an adhesive on the back, making the solution incredibly versatile, allowing for easy on-site installation, repair and replace. The enabling technology of tailored nanostructures is highly scalable, allowing for continuous optimizations to counter the high-pace advancements in sensor technologies.

As an R&D Engineer at DECPT, you will work closely with our engineering team, leveraging your expertise to perfect our product, adapt it to new requirements, and bring it to real-world applications.

Role and Responsibilities

As an expert in nanooptics and thermal properties of materials at DECPT, you will:

  • Collaborate with our team of experts to analyse the existing camouflaging solutions.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and proposing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of our products.
  • Utilize your theoretical knowledge to improve nanostructure design and fabrication methodology for enhanced and predictable nano optical response of the structures.
  • Lead the design and implementation of simulation tools, for optimum nano structural wavelength selectivity.
  • Lead the design of experimental nano optical response verification methodologies and adaptation of the technology based on characterization- and analysis insights.

Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you possess the following qualifications and competences:

  • A degree in physics, physics engineering, photonics engineering, or an equivalent field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in optics, photonics, nanostructure-light-interaction, thermal analysis, material- and surface emissivity properties, and related areas.
  • Experience with development and utilization of simulation software.
  • Experience with iterative development through test-feedback-loops.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a creative and innovative mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proven track record of collaboration within cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in English.

It would be beneficial if you:

  • Have knowledge in micro- and nanofabrication techniques in cleanroom environments.
  • Have experience with characterization techniques such as AFM, SEM, Spectrophotometry.

This full-time position requires you present at DECPT´s address in Nivå, but remote work is fully supported when feasible. Some trips to partners in Denmark and a few international travel days per year may be expected.
